It's amazing how these people are witnessing a show with songs that would be forever etched in rock music's legacy... and they have no clue.

Allen Vrabac Typical youtube dick comment. What are you babbling about..., the crowd was cool enough to check out an unknown band. I bet they enjoyed the set as well and bought the record when it came out. They can say they were there and all you can comment on is about how clueless they were. Apparently they were not.

TrixiLovesYou You are reading it completely wrong, skewing the tone of my sentence. I bet the lot of them liked it, I'm just saying how huge they later became to be and yet these people are witnessing them in their infant stage of infamy, bands from "around the block" so to speak. Just a fascinating perspective, nothing negative about it.

LOL @ 46:33 you can see some stage diver get caught in Layne's cord and rips the mic out of his hands. Then Layne skillfully reels it back in and nails the next verse like a fucking badass! XD

Just an off hand observation. Layne headbanging and then going right into vocals & Jerry headbanging and playing guitar at the same time. I've done some headbanging at concerts, and just staying upright is hard, as you get a bit disoriented (ive fallen over!). So the fact these 2 are able to do what they do while flailing around, is EPIC.

Truth 💯. That's the only reason I put Layne staley over Maynard Keenan and Scott weiland. Though their voices are amazing, they had songs I didn't care much for. Every Layne staley song is a classic to me. I loved aic but that song lifeless dead in mad season was the best song staley touched, that song was made for him the way he screams in that mic and that song I don't know anything with mckreadys guitar eargasm

Lol.. yes, I absolutely agree. I am forever stuck in the '90s music. I was born in 1964 so the same age as most of these guys. Saw them at small venues way back in the day actually about this time of this video. Originally from Houston and there are some really cool small seater venues on lower Westheimer right before you go actual downtown. There's an area e called The Curve which is exactly what it is it's where Westheimer curves. Lots of cool bars and shops. Great night life. Saw Pearl Jam at The Vatican which is now called The Abyss. Saw L7 and Henry Rollins same place. Got to see Hole at a place called #s (Numbers)... it was their second album came out that broke them mainstream. God she was so messed up and was walking around the back alleys. They said it took like several shots of whiskey to get her straight enough to perform. It was Halloween night probably in 1993 guessing. They didn't get on stage until after midnight. We were afraid they were going to cancel the show. It was definitely worth the wait though.

He said enjoyed calling instead of his agent! Very down to Earth and later we were able to meet at a Seattle Pearl Jam show so he was able to put a face to the voice on the phone 📱. Thanks, I wasn't sure if that was Krusen since the quality is kinda potato. Very rare indeed.

They were still calling themselves Mookie Blaylock but they knew it wasn't going to last much longer. Ed mentions expecting a call from Mookie's lawyer about the name. My question is, did they already have Pearl Jam picked as the name....check out Ed's t-shirt :)

I was 15 and a half when this show happened. I didn't see it but I have followed Pearl Jam since Alive was released and I read about it in various magazines. I still have my copy of Alive in the 12" poster bag release that was in a local record store bargain bin, a bargain bin!! I took it home and played it non stop and I found, like so many others, music that I could relate to. I eventually got the stick figure cover tattooed on my arm. The 90's were a great time for music.

fortunate to have been working at Epic Records (their record label) during this week of so-cal shows (cathouse in hollywood...winters in san diego...topped by this one at the palladium in hollywood). as we all realized...we were witnessing the launch of a magnificent game-changing band...they never looked back from that week of shows that unveiled their band for the ages

Amazing old school club footage of early Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains (two of my favorite bands ever)! My only complaint is how they seem to have the light kept off the bassist for at least one entire song

The one and only time I ever saw Alice in Chains was at Lollapalooza (1993 Philly) and I will never forget it. I watched the show from atop my then-boyfriend's shoulders and never saw so many bodies flying through the air at a show. The audience looked like popcorn popping. It was insane.
