Even Flow is one you gotta watch “LIVE” and not the unplugged version to get the full effect. Y’all definitely need to dive into Alice In Chains as well!! ~ Don’t Follow ~ Rooster ~ Down in a Hole ~ AGAIN ~ Dirt ~ Angry Chair ~ Junkhead ~ Sunshine ~ Love Hate Live ~ Bleed the Freak

LOVE that you’re getting into Pearl Jam. Please, PLEASE watch the Unplugged (yes, that means acoustic) version of “Porch”. It’s an incredible performance and you’ll see Eddie at his best. MTV required performers to stay in their seats during these performances. You’ll see how the boys handled that too!

Porch was the BEST performance of all of unplugged in history

One of my fav wrestlers was Raven and his finisher was the Evenflow. So dope. He was a big Pearl Jam fan and loved "grunge" music.

Definitely check out Alice in Chains! They fall into the "Grunge" category, but they're closer to metal than any of the others. Rooster (Studio) or Down in a Hole (Unplugged) are great places to start with them.

I really like their unplugged stuff . If you haven't listened to the MTV unplugged version of "Black" thats one of thr best live performances of all time.

There were a lot of bands coming out of Seattle in the late 89s early 90s 'grunge" era. The four best known were: Nirvana - Kurt Cobain died 1994, Alice in Chains -Layne Staley died 1998, Soundgarden -Chris Cornell (best singer in the bunch) died 2017, and Pearl Jam (Eddie Vedder still going strong). There are so many great songs to choose from... my request would be Better Man 2010 at Madison Garden. It shows how much the concert goers LOVE Eddie Vedder. In my opinion, PJ's live concert performances are the best. They improvise a lot, Mike McCready guitar solos and Eddie Vedder changing lyrics to suit the occasion.

If you are able to understand Eddie's vocals then you ate doing better than 99% of us from the 90s

Solos have a structure to it. They follow the underlying armonic/rhytmic structure of the song of course, but also almost always they have a structure of its own, consisting of recurring rythmic motifs and melodic phrases, some of which also work as cues, as well as a sequence of "parts", where the guitarist improvises more or less (or even not at all in some cases). In the best of cases they are a strctured improvisation.

You want Grunge can't leave out the kings of Grunge " Alice in Chains " They also did a must see MTV Unplugged not long after there great singer Layne Staley died of a drug overdose. So sad because he was probably the best lead singer since Robert plant of lead zeppelin..

The “Do The Evolution” animated video is fantastic! And one of their best songs. Great suggestion. Their live version on the Letterman set is great too.

Solos are written to an extent. Most pro guitar players know Pentatonic scales, so they wherever they are on the guitar they are playing the same 5 notes essentially.

You're just at the tip of the tip of the iceberg with pearl jam and grunge. Check out MTV video music awards 1992 Jeremy. Then the real good PJ check out AOL Sessions hard to imagine. Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Mad Season, Temple of the Dog, Nirvana. The magic is endless!!
