Some of you need to relax...are you even aware of what a privilege it is to see a band so comfortable with their fans that they are willing to just jam and try something new right in front of you...this is an intimate moment and I wish I was there to see it and live it.

I was there too. Before the show, we hung out at the top of the Ampitheater and watched Eddie sound check... So amazing... They did a 6-7 acoustic set to open. Then a FULL on show. Peeee Jay!!!!

They're big enough to set their egos aside and stop the song in front of a live audience when they realize they're not making it right. That's a band that understands art. In my opinion, this makes them even greater.

Eddie isnt trying to outdo an artist...ever - he brings awareness to the lesser/otherwise unknown songs and artists...i appreciate the post and his rendition. now i can seek out the source and enjoy the original as well. unless u r the orig artist and tell EV to avoid it, avoid your negative comment.

Thanks for posting. I'm a die hard Nick Cave fan and cringed when I saw this at first, but Eddie actually has the voice to give it a unique perspective.

This was the second night in a row at Red Rocks and the last show of the tour. I was at the show the night before this. It was the famous no ticket master tour. Tickets were tough to get.

Pear Jam always had gothic overtones in their music. So it's great to hear them do a cover of Nick Cave
@bacilo192 жыл бұрын
Pear Jam and gothic overtones? You really need a basic music education, after all here it's obvious that his audience doesn't even know who Nick Cave is!

@polistyrenejassband I used to listen to Pearl Jam as some of their songs I could relate to the mood. I also liked David Bowie's "The man who sold the world" and considered Nirvana as having a Goth overtone on some of their songs, especially on Nevermind. So I was pleasantly surprised they made a cover of the Man who sold the world. And for the record, STFU as I am almost 40 years old and Gothier than thou! ;)

Oh please. Calm yourself. He brought positive attention to the song and when he felt he wasn’t honoring it enough, he decided to quit. There’s no rule he had to do the whole song. He’s human.

Never heard this beautiful song with less emotion. Listen to the original by Nick Cave (at Songwriter´s circle); then you know what I mean. This song doesn´t work on guitar at all. Btw, saying Nick Cave is an unknown artist is like calling Tom Waits or Leonard Cohen just two old men with hats. Cave is a brilliant songwriter.
@terrance22ism6 жыл бұрын
listen to eddie vedder doing it as cover its better than this one and better than nic caves eddies solo version has more emotion than both of them.

Don't be a purist. I think is beautiful that they did this. Great artist know great artist. And consider that Nick Cave weren't much popular within that particular scene

@silowhore I have to agree that her guitar-playing is very good on this song, and it does work. Never thought it would. Anyway I don´t like Wainwrights singing in this case. Still I think it´s sad that this (Pearl Jam´s) version is so emotionless and just bad.
