I'm 50, and my daughter and best friend are 20 and 21. They worship 90s music and LOVE Smells Like Teen Spirit. I think it really depends on what their parents listened to. I created playlists of "Music Education" for my kids, including the folk music my parents listened to (and played in their band in the 70s). And in return they have introduced me to today's artists who are really great. Most of them aren't on the radio and don't have record deals anymore. The best music today is more independent artists.

It’s about the wealthy and elites preying on the poor, working and middle class people. It’s about overconsumption by those elites-simultaneously telling the rest of the peasants stay in your lane. It’s also about human trafficking-which Chris Cornell was an activist for. He “suicided” just like Chester Bennington and Avvici. They were working on a documentary along with other people about it. This song is deep and sad, meaningful and a pre-cursor to what those musicians were trying to expose. 😢

When a soldier died in combat in World War II, soldiers delivered a letter written on yellow paper to the soldier's family, usually his mother or wife. Normally, this family member would see the military vehicle approaching and welcome them on the porches of the houses. These family members knew this, they didn't want to receive the "Yellow Ledbetter". The story of this lyric is more or less this.

Thanks for posting this! I was there and this whole evening was magical, seen them live every time they toured here since 2000 and this was the absolute best f-ing gig! The guitar guy was in the audience the previous night too, holding a sign "let me play guitar" and came back again, Eddie told him "I had a dream about you last night, so I might actually let you" - he did a really good job, hats off to him 😂I didn't think I could love Pearl Jam any more than I already did but this gig took my love for them on a whole different level...when they opened with Oceans I knew it was going to be a special night, but everyone in the crowd was blown away by how special it actually was. For a band that fought Ticketmaster long ago over price gouging, they have become unaffordable these days. Wanted to catch them this summer but couldn’t afford the $500 plus being charged in the secondary market when you are not fortunate enough to buy them at face values.
@JohnMarzak-kv8vz4 ай бұрын
About 2 years ago, band management/ corporations started pricing tickets for what they sold for the night of the show eliminating the resellers. Just info here, not on their side. I remember standing in line for hours for tickets. Hardcore fans without a lot of money had no other choice. Good memories though.
