Great interpretation! Another way I've thought about this parable is, whereas most treasures are a means to a greater worldly end, (wealth, power, etc.) the merchant sees this pearl in the field as an end unto itself. In the same way, the kingdom of God is a treasure that is the end unto itself! Thanks for your insights, Dr. Pitre!

Thank you Dr Pitre just one word to describe my thoughts after listening to this. "Detachment " is needed to find the treasure of which is the heart of God. Though not easy and yes it is a process of dying to self we'll eventually find it. Therefore, "Seeking" is another important word here for those who look for treasure is always seeking and finally "Perseverance"is an absolute must to attain the richness of God's heart by the way all these cannot be accomplished merely through human will but through the loving grace of God.

Jesus said, "I don't give peace like the world gives." Saint Paul said, "Where sin abounds, grace abounds." And when we do find Him through Mama Mary, His angels, His saints, books, music in whatever way God pleases. We have to choose. We can't find peace and go back to our old sinful ways. A lot of saints were great sinners but through God's grace they found and accepted it. Mama Mary we love you. Precious Blood of Christ we trust in you.

Here it is emphasized that the Kingdom of Heaven is not only a treasure (v.44), but also something beautiful. The beauty of the kingdom of heaven must be sought after, like a merchant looking for beautiful pearls. Through the prophet Jeremiah, God said: “Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart, I will be found by you, says the Lord…”(Jer 29: 13-14). For those of us who have received the Baptism, then truly, we have found a beautiful pearl. However, not all people who are baptized do the second thing, which is to sell all their possessions to buy or maintain beautiful pearls. We can carry out an attitude that Christ also taught to be able to also have beautiful pearls or the Kingdom of Heaven, which is a poor attitude before God (cf. Matt. 5: 3). People who are poor before God always see that wealth, power, position and whatever they have is a gift from God. And everything is placed properly, as something that is used (not loved) to further enlarge the Kingdom of God. I live in Indonesia, I'm Catholic. our country's population is 250 million. 87 percent Muslim, 7 percent protestant, 3 percent Catholic, another 3 percent. I love to follow this channel. A Christian's duty is proclaim the kingdom of God (good news of the gospel) which is attaining salvation. The absolute best way is by example. To those that have been given much much is expected. Remember the servants who were given their masters money one ten thousand, one five thousand and another two thousand. We know the first two doubled their masters money and the third had little ability and did nothing with his ability or talents and returned the money to his master. The master could have done that much himself showing the servant little to no interest in proclaiming the kingdom of God. The master stated he could have at least put it with those that could have at least earned interest. Us servants need to do the best we can with the Grace's given us. To do nothing is to be the chaff, weeds etc which are thrown into the fire.

We just live according to God's will the best that we can. It is not about us. Go to confession as often as you like. Jesus as your Shepherd as your Lord. He paid for us dearly. Mama Mary pray for us. Read the life of Saints. Honestly we all are slaves in one way or form. We need all the help we can get from God. God's grace is not from this earth. It is also because in the Days Jesus walked the earth. Black pearls were so rare they were priceless. If you had one black pearl in those days you would be equal to a Trillionaire. You would be very wealthy. As a matter of fact they could not identify the oyster that produced the black pearl. They were so rare they were one in a million. So just to find one black pearl would make you the wealthiest man in the world. But now they could mass produce black pearls because they found the rare species that produce them and they copied their DNA. Now you find black pearls all over the place. But in the time Jesus walked the earth they were the rarest form of wealth ever. You had to go through one million stinky oysters just to find one. But when you found that one, it was like winning the Powerball jackpot. You were set for life.

The pearl of great price is not the kingdom of heaven. If it were then as you said we could sell everything and purchase it. It is not something we can purchase with good works or selling our stuff. The pearl of great price is us, we were a piece of dirt in a dark area. Jesus's pulled us from our sin and created something beautiful with us...a pearl. He found each one of us valuable and was willing to pay for each one of us. He paid the great price to do this by taking our sins on the cross. We are bought with a price (1cor6:10) Christ's perfect life and death. This is not just my thought but what is often taught in theology.

They care nothing for my law which keeps me from being harmed by them, and they enforce the law of the beast to glorify sin the more money they hoard. Weapons of war, and mass destruction is not going to intimidate me, because when you have nothing to lose but a life without love death is a blessing. Providing themselves homes to keep their agenda hidden, and if it is not one excuse they will always find another enforcing the law of beast instead. Only appearing justified he is far from innocent if he uses my name in vain degrading my people down to slaves. The Pharaoh places his Son at his right hand instead for a one world order of male domination, death, and destruction, and when the Mother is DISHONORED my law is DISHONORED.

The pearl is the Bride of Christ and Jesus is the Man who sold everything to purchase Her. You are seeing it from a works perspective rather than the correct perspective which is Grace. You completely ruined the parable. Hope you see the error.

I have seen many of these videos. This one, so far the only one, I believe has a wrong interpretation. The man is Yeshua and we are the treasure that is buried as for the field, it is the earth. In the second, the merchant is also the Messiah and we are the PEARL. Christ gave up everything for us. We are paid for, in full, by his blood. He gave up all that he was for US. As for the last parable, I think of wheat and tares... chaff and grain. This is what I would say is the idea of the Rapture comes to mind and we are the fish.
