You are right. I was certainly guilty of that when I was young. A lot of things I thought were needs were not even just wants, they were frivolous indulgences. I admire young people who are wise. For me it took a big chunk of my lifetime to see how selfish and materialistic I have been.

There is a sense in which it is more difficult to live the Christian life now than it’s ever been because of our relative wealth because, like RC states, we all live better than the vast majority of our ancestors throughout the history of the world, and that means even people who live on public assistance with two, large-screen TVs, a car, cell phones and who knows what else.

I can tell you from working in the construction industry for the last 10 years that if you tear down a smaller building like a warehouse before you start building the newer and bigger one, all your goods are going to get awfully wet whenever it rains sitting outside And likely stolen even before that. Then again, I guess that’s not really the point of the parable.

👍How many parables Jesus gave us? 50-60? Could there be someone bigger than Jesus? Another Holy Man from Israel gave us more than 200 parables. My favorite is called 'The poor farmer and the precious wine' 🙏

Why tithe to preachers who only enrich themselves by it? My offering goes to the congregation, but my resources above my offering go to proclaiming the gospel via mailings, handouts, and charity.

I don't tithe because my church doesn't do anything with the money. I rather give to the homeless than give to my church. We both are guided my the holy ghost so why should they know better than me. Is their holy ghost more holy? Please explain to me if we are all led by the spirit. I have much reverence for the Lord but I struggle with this. Maybe I should find a different church but the problem may be with me. Idk

No new covenant Scripture says we must tithe - not even one. free-will or love offering is what's condoned. I love this preacher and his messages but I think he made an error here. A lot of false teachers have used tithing as a way to make themselves very wealthy - that is never spoken against - why ?

This parable has nothing to do with tithing, even the Apostle Paul taught about generous giving, and not one mention on tithing. It feels like the flock is being fleeced.

"The Parables of Jesus" Yes kind Sir..."Parables" then; are "Examples" today... And Jesus used them in untold ways. Of course He did that; because in those days; MOST people could not read nor write, Sad. And as satan would have it; they were "scared of their own shadows"; and all myriad of superstitions; throughout the then world. etc! So Jesus used them; hoping they would understand the truths of His Gospel; rather than satan's lies; which has never stopped to this very day. Thus today, we have over 3,000+ different religious "Doctrines" all over the world. And growing every day... Worse: They ALL say, "We are right and you are wrong!" And even worse they ALL say, "We get ours from the bible!" How sad. May Jesus have mercy on them. End of Story... ...In any case kind Sir, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

I’d like to hear a biblical case for a implied or required New Testament “tithe”. And yes I mean the meaning of the word. One tenth. Where is this teaching? I love listening to Sproul but I can’t get behind the teaching that a Christian “has” to give 1/10th. Can someone offer up a case for it?

Christianity had a crucial difference with Marxism. It recognises the right to choose. Marxism says the State can enforce equality on people. It forces good virtuous behaviours down peoples throats!!
