This movie was so disturbing. Not because it was gruesome, but Mia Goth's acting is so good that every time she started to scream or have a mental breakdown it gave me so much anxiety.
@augustuscurnow2 жыл бұрын
The family dinner and confrontation with Mittsy both made my blood run cold, those scenes were so well crafted and really immersed you in the film I feel like. The actual killing in the movie was anxiety inducing, but the dread of the characters interacting was where the real horror lied IMO. Mia killed it in this, pun maybe intended.

Honestly to me, there's something about said romantic/upbeat being used in horror movies, either for trailers or end credits, that just adds to the whole creepiness of horror... I.E Hereditary's end credits with Both Sides Now, and I now associate that song with that movie.

I just watched this film without knowing that it was a prequel and, I have to say, it stands incredibly well on its own. You really aren't required to watch "X" before watching "Pearl." Though, I will definitely watch "X" after seeing this masterpiece! The story and characters (especially Pearl herself) are excellent and very well written. The titular character is a perfect embodiment of dangerous ambition and delusion of grandeur while also demanding some form of compassion from the audience, as Pearl's hopes, dreams and wants are relatable enough to invoke empathy. Even though that empathy flies right out the window the moment she impales another poor soul with a pitchfork, haha. The acting performances of Mia Goth are nothing but surreal! I've never seen her on screen before, but I will definitely keep her on my radar as she's a force to be reckoned with, an absolute marvel to watch explode (you'll know what I mean after seeing this). What more is there really for me to say? This film simply ticked all the right boxes and then some! I couldn't recommend it enough!
