Pearl tatting, adding thread with Lark's Head knot, rings thrown off each side

Pearl tatting is demonstrated in this video with a core thread and 2 auxiliary threads on shuttles. I'm starting with a tatted ring, then adding the core thread for the pearl tatting with a Lark's head knot to the base of the ring. I hide the tail by working a few stitches over it, then abandon the tail and continue tatting.The tail can be trimmed off later. This is just an option for a neat, tidy way to deal with the thread ends. Pearl tatting is done with unflipped stitches, encapsulating the core thread. Alternating sides after each double knot is shown in this video, but other variations are possible. I show tatting a ring on each side of the pearl tatting, and how to keep both right and left sides looking "front side up". At the end of the video 2 photos are shown of my original bracelet design that used pearl tatting in the center, embellished with beads and other tatting techniques.

Thank you. The technique of pearl tatting has been in existence a long time. In books from the early 1900s there are some patterns using it. I am writing a new pattern of my own using this technique, and hope to have it finished soon. My patterns give permission to sell items that you have made from them, but the pattern itself cannot be shared. Thank you for understanding. Some other designers have different requirements than I do, so it is best to ask the pattern designer before selling items that you have made from their pattern. I do hope that my patterns inspire others to discover their own creativity.

For needle pearl tatting, I think the core thread would be threaded onto the needle. Then, form Lark's Head knots on either side of the needle; 1st half then 2nd half as usual on the left hand side, but 2nd half followed by 1st half on the right hand side.

Fill one of the shuttles, then unwind 2 or 3 yards (or whatever amount you might need) from the ball, and cut. Pick up the cut end, and wind the 2nd shuttle.
