Peat moss is the secret to growing blueberry plants. Here at DiMeo Farms we incorporate at least 50% peat moss when we plant our blueberry bushes so they grow blueberries faster.

How long does peat moss last in the soil? Is there a way to replace peat moss in the ground for an established plant or is that even necessary?

Some new research shows that co planting grasses next to blueberries makes iron available to the plants in the same way an acidic soil (like peat moss) does. I’m starting my small blueberry patch of roughly 25 plants in the peat moss/ sand mix DiMeo recommends, and will be experimenting with grass coplanting to reduce my need for more peat.

@@dyelon13interesting. We have grass down our rows, but also used peat moss when we planted.
