Nice man I was curious about the King's County one and good to know it can hold it's own, to a degree, against these big boys. Cheers!

Port Charlotte 10 was my introduction to peated whisky. At first, the heavy nose overwhelmed the experienced, but slowly grew into a well balanced sip. I reach for it more often recently as I now crave the intense earthiness. Thanks for your experienced reviews.

A very nice review and concept. I would suggest, if you were to do this again, to compare Whiskey Del Bac Dorardo (Arizona) and Andalusia Stryker Single Malt (Texas), both peated or smoked and single malts. Each one is so good. Slàinte Mhath!

Port Charlotte 10 should take the cake here. And I love my Quarter Cask. But blind is blind.

Let me just say I'm in NY, sort of in the neighborhood of Orange County Distillery. Didn't know they did a peated malt but I'm not surprised with the review. I have the rye and the (regular) single malt and its not easy to tell them apart. I'm not going to let you slide here. The concept is great but the domestic competitors were not up to the challenge. I would have thought McCarthy's has to make an appearance as the old school ASM. I believe they have always imported Scottish peated barley. Very recently I picked up a bottle of ASW Tire Fire from Atlanta. I would love to hear your thoughts on this one. I drop in an amoro soaked cherry and it's awesome. Without, it's like a tire on fire. And then I got to sample before I didn't buy, the CloudSplitter from High Peak Distillery in Lake George NY. I thought it was a very good effort. Peat and bourbon casks and possibly virgin oak, a really nice option for this matchup. I thought it was just a little to simple for $80. For that kind of money these entry level Islays are hard to beat. I have that bourbon also, it's a nice twist on local corn whiskey, but I think its a one and done

@@whiskywhereabouts I always had high hopes for ASM. But the rate of disappointment is pretty high. I do believe the future is getting better for us but I've learned to be skeptical of low proof and virgin oak. It should seem obvious that you can't mature malt the same way as corn whiskey and expect it to taste different. New charred oak is not good for ASM.
