I picked up a bottle of their The Sherry One, and, boy howdy, am I happy. I have some major reservations about many peated expressions, particularly those from Islay. So, I was surprised that when I tried Port Charlotte 10, it did not alienate me. I asked around and was told that Bruichladdich did not use Islay peated malt, but had peated malt trucked in from Aberdeenshire....reputedly the St. Fergus peat. So, I'm happy to hear that this is basically the same peating. My Sherry One is a wondrous mix of smoky campfire and chocolate-covered Christmas cake. It stands well with Benromach's Contrasts: Peat Smoke in Sherry Cask as an equivalent.

Just wondering: would a Hazelburn do for the Campbeltown exception? I've been a bit cruel in the past serving the unpeated Stitchell Reserve from Caol Ila for Islay (like quite a fruity Speyside) and heavily-peated Old Ballantruan from Tomintoul for Speyside (I once described it as "Ardbeg-on-Spey"!).

For that exception for Campbeltown I'm going with the Glen Scotia Victoriana. It's so over the top sherry forward which you just don't see from any other core range Campbeltown bottles. Many use sherry but it doesn't dominate the distillate like it does in this one does. The Victoriana is the Campbeltown version of a GlenAllachie release.

Give you a Lowland to sample and it's cheap. Kirkland nas Lowland. 26.97. Bought it on a lark. Dark chocolate and cherries, reminds me of Edradour not in taste but construction. When you consider what you spend on a blend this is a no brainer if you can find it.

I just found a 2022 bottling for $219 in GA. So that makes it 27 year old?! It’s very tasty. Lots of oak on the finish. I’m tasting it next to the 15 now and both are very similar but this Parliament definitely has that old dusty, refined taste that the 15 doesn’t. I should probably go buy the other 2 bottles they had as well:)

I am quite new to whisky, so what I am now typing should be taken with a pinch of salt, but are nevertheless my view of today. The peated whisky I have tried are Tallisker Storm, Tallisker Port Ruighe, Ardbeg Ten, Lagavulin 10 Travel Exclusive and the Lagavulin 16. And I am ranking them in this order. The Talliskers I find almost un drinkable (exaggeration but still) because of a clear underlying sharpness and roughness. The Ardbeg and the two Lagavulins are all wonderful and I believe one could change one’s mind depending upon the weather and one’s mood. However considering the two Lagavulins I will probably be choosing the 16 over the 10 every time. So depending upon the mood it might be between the Ardbeg Ten and the Lagavulin 16. I am obviously going to try the Uigeadail in the future. Greetings from Denmark

@@whiskywhereabouts interesting, Royal Mile Whiskeys has it as discontinued. Also, I recall an episode of AquaVitae recently talking about it being discontinued as well. I guess we are good for as long as supplies last. The 12 is basically MIA in most of the southeast USA - and so are the 18 and 21 OBs. They are all excellent drams!

Bold list Tim. Very controversial. I could argue both sides on any of the rankings but by process of elimination thr number one is the only one with a deep field of well presented whiskies. To bad they're mostly leftover inventory with lipstick. I haven't bought a 10 since batch 6 and I am trying to hold off until I know its BW's own distillate for another unpeated bottle to add to my collection. I am enjoying a rye and port finished as well as 2 completely different standard 12 years olds. On the other hand the MT range came to town recently and I always thought that highland peat is good stuff IMO. Someday I might even open the 2015 Glendronach Peated im sitting on.
