Eminence speakers really are the secret sauce for Peavey amps. I put a pair of Wizards in my Valve King 212 and nearly peeled the paint off my walls! Good stuff!

Always secret sauce! My ENGL Thunder 50 got a Swamp Thang now, instead of orig. Vintage 30, and...it makes me speechless. All frequencies seem to be overpresented, you have to turn back all the knobs to tame it (shouldn't it be that way, always...?); no matter how deep down you drop your tune, it takes it all and sends it back, amplified, as a Demolition Hammer...the clarity, the low mid growl, everything is there now, and more...; my ENGL is now a true Monster, a Tasmanian/German Devil... P.S. Got also a great Blues Sound!

i bought my son a peavey envoy 110 over a decade ago as a gift and he ended up needing a place to store it so it’s in my music room. Ten inch speakers are my favourite and i prefer this amp to the Bandit but it’s trans tube tech like the Bandit. Great clean, nice verb and the high gain setting is great. I could gig it without pedals but i’m a guitar into amp guy mostly anyway. This old peavey stuff is vintage for working class musicians 😅

Here's a quick video covering the process for swapping out a speaker in the Peavey Bandit 112 Red Stripe. The process is the same for the Studio Pro 112. There's a tone sampler at the end of this video as well. Eminence Texas Heat Speaker: 🛒 Sweetwater - sweetwater.sjv.io/eKDAN1 |🛒 Thomann - bit.ly/3MaEztG (affiliate links)

Hi Shane, it rounds the Peavey out nicely. Yep I am a fan of speaker swaps if your amp isn't quite what you want before getting another amp thanks to your stuff. A few years ago I saw your speaker swaps and read your info on speakers/amps and thought I'd give it a go. I had a Fender Champion 50XL as my next step practice amp. It sounded great clean but using my OD/Distortion/Fuzz pedals it was lacking. I fitted a Jensen Neo 80 into it and wow it gave me my own Pensioner's Version of a Deluxe Reverb. It served me well for the next two years and then I got my dream Amp, a Tone Master Super Reverb (sweet). I still use the Champ when I travel to see friends and have jam. Cheers Pete

The TH is a GREAT speaker in the PV. The Ragin Cajun 10" has same positive effect on smaller PV amps. I emailed Eminence and was recommended it because I wanted a similar characteristic as the TH. I have one in my 1984 PV Backstage Plus. Really magic. The tone improves even more on both speakers when they've been played in too. Great channel. 🖖

My 1989 Bandit had a terrible, completely unsuitable PA speaker in it when I bought it (I paid £40). But I had a Celestion Sidewinder 150W speaker out of an old Marshall 75 Reverb amp, so that now lives in the Bandit! Since I never heard the original speaker, a comparison's not possible. I've gigged this amp, and to me it sounds fine. Plus, it's incredibly loud.

I always feel like gear snobs always reach for Celestion and forget about Eminence. I had dropped a Private Jack in my original and notoriously treble Marshall DSL40C (the original one) and the difference was night and day. True greenback tones with much higher power handling and volume.

I was thinking about that one or the governor myself, I didn't want to chance it with a 25w greenback, even though I don't really play out, there's always those pops or accidental moments. The private might be just right! Cheers

Hey Shane - IMO most lower priced amps are let down by the quality of the speakers and an upgrade usually gives the most bang for the buck IMO. I recently replaced the WGS Reaper in my Fender Deluxe reverb clone (great speaker/wrong amp) with an Eminence GA-SC64 George Alessandro speaker and it was a big improvement. Love the channel BTW!

Great video Shane, however, I only heard a slight positive difference, not saying it wasn’t an improvement. So many speakers to choose from. My choice would have been the Warehouse G12a. I replaced my stock Blue Stripe Studio Pro 110 with the G10a and it absolutely was a game changer. The original speaker with no pedals was nasally and somewhat bright. I truly disliked it. Using pedals the stock speaker was tolerable. The new speaker thickened the low end, enhanced the mids and created beautiful musically highs. I feel like I got lucky as I truly was buying blindly like most of us trying to upgrade our speakers. Thanks for sharing.

@@inthebluesThey call that a “spanner” in Australia? Here in the states we call that a “crescent wrench” or “adjustable wrench”. I noticed a significant difference in the two speakers. The stock is kind of dull sounding. I have the Peavey Sheffield 1230 in mine (American made) which I’ve never found a problem with, (I have it rigged up with a jack for plugging it in to another cabinet but still being able to plug into the original speaker if I want). Question: because that speaker is not labeled, do you think it’s just a cheap speaker or an unmarked Sheffield 1230? I’ll have to look at your other videos for sound comparisons since I know you’ve done Texas Heat/Sheffield shootouts.

In a bedroom/music room setting, I actually prefer the Peavey Blue Marvel speakers (I also have an Envoy 110, with a 10 inch Blue Marvel), I don't need a lot of volume or headroom, with a more expensive speaker (whole idea of getting your hands on an old Peavey trans-tube amp, is because they are cheap!!). Nice Tutorial Shane!!

I have a redstripe and I put a celestion redback in mine. The redback is the only british alternative to the texas heat worth considering. Same power rating, also rounds off the treble and beefs up the low end, and clear mids, but with that celestion grind that's perfect for heavier styles.

The only thing is a new speaker costs almost as much as a used Bandit. I understand you like the tone you get, but by the time you add in the cost and hassle of a speaker replacement, I wonder if other options aren't available.

Best to use a correct size spanner or deep socket and not a shifter if you can. Shifting spanners are considered unprofessional/dodgy and a last resort. You can get sacked if you're caught using one in a mechanics workshop where only quality professional work is expected. (There are a few edge cases where it is acceptable)

G'day Shane, Just wanted to ask a question - one SE Melb Aussie to another. How do you manage to create a great, popular KZbin channel whilst still being able to use a shifter properly? I had to wait, but it was 5 minutes before you used yours badly. I'm not bullshitting - every YT video I watch with a shifter (cresent wrench) in it, I see them being used incorrectly. It's so bad, I've not bothered complaining about it, until I watched you use yours correctly. OK. All of that aside, thanks for a great video. I've got a few small amps, and most of them need good speakers, so I'll be looking into it all, very soon. Keep up the good work Andrew
