Picked up an early USA made Cirrus a decade ago. I'll never sell it. The quality. The tone. The feel. Perfection. Had no idea they started making them again. Except in Indonesia.

Really fun to see so many people who had these in the comments here - very underrated basses! A 2002 Bubinga 5 string was my first ‘big boy’ bass after upgrading from a dynabass I’d had for about 5 years. It cost about 50% more in my country than the US so I had to email so many US music shops to find one willing to break Peavey’s agreement not to ship to countries they charged more to, but eventually I succeeded! It was my main bass for a decade but does now sadly get played infrequently just because of time and n+1! I was very sad some years ago when a friend was interested in picking one up and I found out at that time the cirrus had been discontinued and only the BXP models remained. Very happy to hear they made a come back - hope the quality was as good!

Peavey basses are really under-rated. I have a 5 string Dyna-bass that I bought 28 years ago that I would never part with.

My first bass that I bought in 1991 was a used 4 string Peavey Dyna. I bought it because it was cheap and I was still young on bass. I really had no idea when I bought it what I was buying. It wasn't long before I fell in love with the thing. It got stolen in 2000, and I was crushed as Dynas were not easy to find. I eventually found another one. A few years ago I found a first gen 84 Fury in a used guitar shop. It's more like the T-20 than the P-bass clone the Fury would become in the next design. That has become my favorite bass hands-down.

@@sonicfrogdotnet I just started playing bass again and I wanted to buy a new bass. But I happen have a Toby by Tobias and a 80's Peavey Dyna bass and man that Dyna bass sounds so good. I wanted a Peavey Cirrus when they first came out but did not have the money. I was at pawn shop one day and saw the Peavey Dyna bass a bought it because I liked the way the Cirrus sound.

I had one of these basses years ago when they first came on the scene. I absolutely LOVED that bass! I sold it to get a Ken Smith, and although I love the KS, I kick myself for parting with this bass. Mine was exactly like the one being demo'd; Bubinga is such a beautiful wood, and it sounded AMAZING! I was going to shop for a Carvin/Kiesel but I'm getting another one of these Peavey's. The neck through construction and the graphite truss rods make this bass top notch! Mine had an 18 volt pre-amp and played like butter.

The first time I played a Cirrus in 2006 I was hooked. Been a USA Peavey player ever since. I love all my Peaveys. They are the best.

I have had my Cirrus for going on 14 years or so. I could not be more pleased with the sound, playability, or workmanship and they are absolutely stunning to look at. I would not part with mine either, although, it is tiger stripe Redwood and I really like the look of the Bubinga. Great reviews by the way, really appreciate your thoroughness and quality of information.

I used to own a USA Cirrus 5 and sold it when I purchased a Ken Smith 5-sold that too! I really miss both the Cirrus and the Smith. I was skeptical about the new Cirrus basses but based on the videos I've seen, they sound almost identical to the USA Cirrus basses, and they now have my attention!

Gregor I like this bass , I like the way the pickups are designed. Back in 1974 I bought a Peavey Patriot bass my very first bass but I can't remember what happened to it , it's probably sitting in my parents attic covered in dust.

These newer Cirrus basses are supposed to be exactly like the American Basses, with the exception of the power plate. Actually the truss rod is steal, however they have a couple of Carbon fiber strengthening rods in the neck... Out of the 75 or so basses I have owned these are my favorite, I have owned probably 5 /6 of the American built Cirrus and looking forward to trying one of the Indonesian made models, they are less than half the price of the American models which they don't make any more... The neck feels very small to me...
