My first and only amp I've needed was my '92 peavey classic 50. I got it in 1999, and have never replaced or serviced a single thing. Original tubes, capacitors, everything. It has stood up to hundreds of gigs and practices from my various punk bands, always played with the gain maxed out on the lead channel. It's been dropped many times, fell on, kicked, spilled on, snowed on, rained on, stored in damp basements for months.... still works perfect. Not as clean as this one (kinda rusty, missing 1/3 of the knobs), but it still sounds awesome. Sometimes it gets a little squeal, but a good rap on the side with a whiskey bottle clears that up. I have been meaning to replace the tubes for a couple years, but since it still works great I haven't got around to it. Love this amp.

Exactly! But I bought mine already used and beat up around 1995. 🤘🏻😝🎸 I did have to get the filter fuse swapped out once. Since I am playing and gigging so much again, I have been doing a deep dive on tubes and speakers. So after all these years, I just installed two Vintage 30s. I just got off work,and looking forward to dialing in some great tones. Hopefully it’s not too wild for my Texas Blues I’ve been playing a lot of lately. I know it will continue to be great for my Metal for sure. 🤘🏻😝🎸🇺🇸

I have a 1991 Peavey Classic 50 410, that I bought when I was 18 after playing the same model that my guitar teacher had in his studio. I fell in love with the sensitivity of the overdrive and the crystal clarity of the cleans. The spring reverb that comes standard is not bad at all and sounds right at home with classic rock. It makes a great platform for effects pedals since the clean channel is so clean. I'm so happy I bought the amp when I did since the original 90s production amps are beginning to get hard to find.

One of my favorite go-to videos for this amp. Been coming back to this after so many years. But, Mike is right…something has been done to that amp. That gain is the best sounding gain channel I’ve heard coming out of this amp. It’s tighter, and punchier than a typical Classic 50. Sounds absolutely spectacular. And, something else is that this is actually a very warm, tweed style amp. GREAT blues amp . But, the dirty channel doesn’t sound quite this amazing on these amps. This is definitely something really special.

I've had my Peavey Classic 50 for 27 years now - and it's virtually mint - never gigged with it. Mine was made the first year Peavey manufactured it, and it's the only year it came without an effects loop. As my other main amp is a '60s Blackface Fender Twin - which has WAY too much horsepower for playing at home - I mainly bought it because I loved that it would produce great clean, bluesy and jazz sounds with wonderful tone, but at lower volumes. AND it responds wonderfully to the volume and tone knobs of my guitar. So, it has the over-driven horsepower if you want it, but you don't have to make your ears bleed to get its clean sounds. My only real gripe about the amp is, looking from the front of the amp to its back, the control knobs are labeled upside-down - meaning, if you can't walk behind the amp to adjust the controls, it's kind of inconvenient to read the controls. Tradition? I have heard someone say, in the distant past, players used to stand behind their amps. I find that assertion questionable. But, in subsequent years, Peavey remedied this labeling to read correctly when view the controls from the front of the amp.

Bought mine in 1994, got the effects loop which I never use since I am a rhythm player and mostly use the clean channel to get a great jazz sound with my Epiphone Broadway, or A nice rock sound with my Tele Special. First heard the 410 from a lead player, insane sound, bought the 212 for more bass resonance more suited to my rhythm sound. I love this amp, best one i have ever owned, will buy another when this one dies, if it ever does, 65lb moose, may grab a 30 112 just for the reduced weight.

I picked up a Peavey Classic 50w x12 for $75 a couple years back. What a great deal for such a great amp. I recently unscrewed the amp section and the spring reverb uint from the speaker cab so I can use the head in the control room and the speaker cab in the studio room. I use it mainly for clean, chimey stuff. I like the way you dialed in the distortion, but for some reason it never fit with the tracks I was producing. I always end up using the Peavy for clean and the Orange for dirty.

Holy Moses Mike you could be an advertisement for Peavey that was some pretty good playing there. Your tone is awesome i'm looking at one of these and also a triple xxx I have a Marshall Kerry king stack. But wanted something easier to move around. Man if you're not gonna playing out anymore maybe you should be giving lessons or Internet lessons or something that was some pretty good Rockin you make it look easy 👍👍👍 I used to build cabinets part of the reason the 410 has so much punch is the 10 inch speakers will have smaller cones and more punch in the mid range Then the 412 I thought they sounded great that's kind of the sound I go for and you're right I've heard some of those real bassy amps and they make guys sound like a cheap garage band like some kind of thunder box LOL you have really impressed the heck out of me with this set up and going over your settings because as I understand it this is what they call a passive eq and apparently a lot of guys don't understand You adjust it a little bit differently to bring them in.

Hi Mike, does the master volume work well with lowering loudness without sacrificing tone?
@bvalt13 жыл бұрын
Yes it does, the volume range you get is insane, especially with my Epiphone Broadway, I can, just with my playing, have an insane amount of volume range without sacrificing tone, you rarely have to adjust the volume, you mostly just modify how hard you are plucking the strings, I stopped playing with a pick once I got this amp, and gtr combination, fell in love with the sound and response, everything I was looking for. So glad I still have mine.
