Man you did the best Job on Detailing the Mini Mega. Not even Peavey co. gave this kind of detail information on their gear. You deserve 5 Thumbs up.

Hey there, thanks for the video! As I'm using quite a lot of pedals with my bass, I was wondering: Could I use the DI out as a clean output if I were to switch it to 'pre' and put all my effects in the fx-loop?
@Bassguitarist198510 ай бұрын
Yes correct. The signal for the DI set to "pre" grabs the signal right after the input stage

Great technical fly through of the amp. How do you like it compared to the VB2 or VB3?
@Bassguitarist1985 Жыл бұрын
In terms of features minus the headphone jack issues, its a great amp! Tone wise (not on the crunch channel) its utilitarian and highly tweakable/surgical in the EQ features. The VB amps imparts their warmth and color to the sound the MM simply lacks on its own. Its like painting with a brush with any EQ changes. Nothing precise like the MM, but there is so much harmonically rich tone from valves a SS amp cannot achieve. I suppose it comes down to what you are looking to do, what the song needs. All of the amps are tools in the toolbox! Thank you for watching!!
@muleblues713 ай бұрын
you should make those boxes. They would sell definitely. Would a dark glass bass head get more gritty valve like tones?
@Bassguitarist19853 ай бұрын
Radio already makes a speaker parallel series box. Even if I was somehow able to get the cost and parts down and charge less than what that product sells for the margins would be very low especially for a handmade box. sweetwater.com/store/detail/CabLink--radial-cablink-speaker-cabinet-merger

Looking into getting this. Is the footswitch a necessity or can you just press the actual buttons on the head to enable/disable the crunch, kosmos, etc?
@Bassguitarist1985 Жыл бұрын
Yes you can push the buttons on the head to enable all the features, the foot switch makes it easier. The buttons on the head are countersunk beneath the face so they can be tough to push without precision.

You said it’s recognizing an 8ohm load… do you feel you’re getting the 500w at 8ohm?
@Bassguitarist19852 ай бұрын
Is actually 700W at 8 Ohms for the MiniMega, and yes definitely getting the full wattage. My MAX700 (Firebass) head is 700W at 2 ohms with both in parallel.

Nice amp, I have a Markbass that sounds way too mid unatural coloured, I am searching for a clean amp with an on-off switchable EQ, I am now considering the EBS Reidmar 502 ....
@Bassguitarist1985 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! I see that amp is similar featured. Only one parametric band instead of 2 on the MM, less wattage overall but can handle 2 ohms, same wattage at 4 or 2 ohms. They likely said that because while 2 ohms delivers more power than 500w, thermally it would not be able to last before it shuts down best case scenario. Looks cool though! If you get it let me know how it sounds!!

Are Peavey cabs reliable cause i hear mixed infos about them. I want to buy the MiniMax. If not what cabs do you recommend? Thanks.
@Bassguitarist19857 ай бұрын
Which cabs are you thinking of getting? I have the older TVX series which essentially have eminence speakers but they weigh a few pounds. The newer Headliner series of cabs has replaced them but in my opinion because they lack a horn they don't have the same punch. I would say the VB series the PRO series which is older or the TOUR series of cabinets are extremely reliable loud and clear.

@@gounaro see my previous response. Headliner series lacks a horn. They are budget level cabs, but get the job done. I like having the horn with L-pad so I can adjust or turn off if I want.

If your cab has a failure, I'd disconnect it and not just switch the breakout box to parallel. A failure is not a known or controlled state - I once thought I burned out a coil but it turned out to be a short circuit not in the coil winding. If I left it plugged in and kept playing, I may have burned out the amp.
@Bassguitarist19858 ай бұрын
Agreed on disconnecting the failed speaker and switching to parallel. Thank you for watching!

No issues with gain based effects in the front of the amp. The effects loop for modulation and time based effects is very clean and the loop can be bypassed entirely by the footswitch!

@@lightspeed79 nice bass!! You set the gain to 10 or the master volume at 10? The 410 Headliner is an 800W program and 8 ohms. The MM does 700w RMS and that's 87% of the program which is more than plenty to get that cab PUMPING. You sure all your speakers are in phase?
