On the eve of selling one of my favorite ridiculously OP Peavey amps, I decided to make a video for the rare beast. We have Merch and music! www.forsythevi... Join the Guild! / 717233481726147

What a nice clean tone! Just got myself an old Peavey classic chorus 212 with scorpion speakers, sounds great, loud af and built like a tank. Greetings from Mexico!

I used to have a Classic Chorus 212. I loved it but I got into Marshalls for a while and sold it off. Recently was looking for another one and found a Backstage Chorus 208 which sounds just like it but smaller and slightly less heavy lol.

That is a huge Peavy. The warm tone is nice. I have a scratchy pot in the older Peavy I own too. Awesome video.
@ForsytheVideo3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! After I sprayed and turned the pots the scratchiness went away. It definitely pays to stock up on contact cleaner!

I've always had a love for old peavey gear! Sounds like you could make an oldschool Desert/old west type soundtrack with it. Think I'm gonna go and buy an ol peavey amp now... thanks for sharing man!

You totally should! I love it way to much. Pretty sure my entire house is structurally supported by Peaveys, haha.

Def a clean sounding amp. Lots of head room with that kinda wattage. I have owned a bunch of Peaveys over the years. Tough amps for sure. When I see them now I grab them on the cheap if I can. Most of my Peaveys I have owned were late 70's/early 80's ones. I've owned a teal Bandit 1/12, a Classic 2/12 with phase shifter built in and a Renown 2/12 160 watt(super loud amp).

They were tanks for sure. Tough and loud and last forever with even minimal maintenance. I have a bunch more Peavey stuff on the way.

I enjoyed this video. You are quite knowledgeable about Peavey gear. Maybe you should do a series on old Peavey gear kinda like Trogly does with Gibson gear? You've got a lot of knowledge that I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate. Thanks for sharing.

I sort of am over time, I have a lot to cover. I just got a really cool 70's Peavey Mace in that will be up next. Thanks Tony!

I'm getting one for doom! Clean high head room. Sounds like a perfect platform for a big muff.

There are hardly any videos of the Peavey Jazz Classic 400 online, but I guess this one comes close?

I've had mine since new in the early 90s. I play pedal steel and Telecaster. Great amp.

I miss it big time! That room filling pristine clean with epic reverb. Fantastic amp.

I have an LA 400 with a black widow speaker that I don’t use. I put it up for sale and a guy from Nashville called about it, but the shipping would have been a mother so I didn’t offer shipping. I’d love for someone to get some use out of it as I’m not in a band anymore. It’s loud as hell

Hope someone does those are great amps too!

$300. God you guys in the US don't know how good you have it with gear prices. My stepdad used to have one of these. He paid $1500 back in the 80's for it. They'd still get $800-$1000 all day here in Australia.
@ForsytheVideo2 жыл бұрын
Holy cow! That is insane. I hope you guys have some awesome local amp companies who can supply you on the cheap.

Hi, Great video and review. Few quick questions, where did you buy this amp from? did you get it brand new, or second hand? I live in Australia and want to get this and can't find it anywhere Cheers,
@ForsytheVideo3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rick! Thanks for checking out my channel. I got it second hand and was super lucky to find it as they are very rare. I already regret selling it. Here's the video showing how I got it if you want to check it out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKDXmoece7Frgdk

Great sounding amp. I have an amp related question too, regarding a Marshall Valvestate 80V model 8080. I could buy one for pretty cheap and I'd change the speaker and the tubes after some time probably, do you have any experience on thsi combo or Valvestates in general? The internet seems to have divided opinions on these xd
@ForsytheVideo3 жыл бұрын
Very divided, haha. It all depends on what you are doing man. Honestly they aren't the best for 'good' guitar tone but they are GREAT for a gritty, nasty distortion. For example the first two Static-X records were recorded with a Marshall Valvestate! If you are looking for some great hybrid amp tones I'd check out the old Johnson Marquis/Millennium series or the Laney tube fusion series. If you want a dirty metal tone and aren't too concerned with your cleans, the Valvestate will nail it for you.
@senorwall11093 жыл бұрын
@@ForsytheVideo Yeah gritty and nasty metal tones are really what I am looking for lol. Will go and test it someday and if I like it I'll get it, thanks for the info.
