No more having to take multiple amps to a gig for different instruments or settling for so-so tones from an unoptimized amp. The multi-instrument Peavey Vypyr X 3 1x12-inch 100-watt Modeling Guitar/Bass/Acoustic Combo Amp contains models of electric, acoustic, and bass amplifiers. By utilizing Peavey's groundbreaking Variable Instrument Input, this powerful combo amp changes the gain structure and input sensitivity based on what instrument you use, ensuring the best sound possible from electric, acoustic, and bass guitars. Nick Jennison reviews.

It looks like Peavey finally updated the ios app for ipad. This amp is truly an amazing piece of gear. I have the Peavey Vypyr x3 and ita a VERY loud and versatile amp indeed. I use this more as a bass amp with a jam group I play with. As a bass amp its absolutely tremendous and full of options!! Its fun with my jam group because sometimes someone doesnt show for jam and I can plug in my guitar with ease! Just a twist of a knob and Im back in guitar mode! I absolutely love my Vypyr x3!!! Your review is going to sell more of these amps. This review truly does this amp a lot of justice! Thanks for your detailed and in depth review!!!

is it loud enough to jam in a metal band? i sold my 6505 cause i dont play shows anymore.Want something by my desk that is smaller. BUT incase I would want to play a show without a sound guy..it makes me wonder.

@coreyshaheen5359 I recommend a peavey bandit 112...but the vypyr x3 is great if you like versatility and effects. Watch the video on my channel called Wilson Street Jams - Lord Thunderbringer, JJ and Russoil if you want to hear the x3 in a band scenario.

Absolutely! Except for maybe their AIRD Amp modeling tech, I still can't see why BOSS is getting all the "HOOPLA" Sales and Praise for their Amps when Peavey has been totally NAILING it in the arena of Realism for far longer, and AT LOWER COST?! Plus these Vpyrs STILL sound better to me than even the BOSS Nextone Amps that are actually very good. Peavey seems to have always been TRAGICALLY under rated but their Audio products are seen the world over EVERYWHERE because it is in Fact "Good Gear but at FAIR Prices." just like Hartley Peavey himself promises.

Pretty amazing capability that thing’s got! However, I have a few gripes. First, the location of the control panel-it’s on the top at the back, facing straight up, so the player has to lean over the amp to adjust it. There’s a reason why Leo Fender put controls on the front of his amps, starting about 1960. Most of us put our amps behind us on stage, so a front panel would be much easier to deal with. I suppose we’ll all have to buy iPads to adjust our amps with. Speaking of adjusting the amp, will this one work with foot controllers other than the Peavey Sanperas? I need something with an expression pedal on the right side, and enough switches to change patches without taking up too much floor space. The big Sanpera is too big and has expression pedals at either end-if I could reach one I couldn’t reach the other! And I don’t think the small Sanpera has enough capability-will it take an expression pedal? I sit to play-I’m in a wheelchair-so a huge controller is out of the question.

Get the Sanpera II with this Vypyr; lots of knobs and 2 expressionpedals

Exactly: that's why I think I prefer my older VIP3 for its front mounted controls. Utility is more important than Styling to me and my VIP3 is a good looking piece of gear anyhow. Plus. it sounds FREAKIN AWESOME and I even prefer cleans too!

Definitely some latency with those drop-tuned guitar models. What's the point of having both a baritone and a seven-string model? Surely they achieve the same thing when using a 6-string.

Great amp, very loud. I barely even go past 3 on gigs. With some tweaking you can get any tone you desire. It also has Pitch Shifter which comes in handy in a band setting, tune down or up mid gig with this amp.

We want to know about max out cho dly reverb levels, and the high registers, are they thin or cheesey?! These are the most critical aspects of modelers!

I know the x2 model, what’s the best way to record it at home and is noise reduction needed separately since the native one can’t cope with his robot 100%

What happened to it 🥺 I prefer the original vypr. The sound is not the same and it’s not a step up. It’s like an attempt of being an old school pod and it definitely does not sound that good :/

The price of these amps s is less than most decent stompboxes these days so it's a no brainier for a home or recording rig for sure..and everyone knows Peavey are built for the stage ..it's got that Peavey thing going on for sure..hard to pass up for the features it's priced really aggressively to compete in that katana class

Never understand how anyone can keep a straight face while demo'ing a piece of crap and trying to sing its praises. I had a Peavey Vypyr (the original one) and I remember it sounding way better than this thing.

Still the same problem with these modeling platforms. It sounds like you’re setting in a room with an amp that sounds like an amp in a room mic-ed up like a studio session. Just get a real amp… or a modeling pedal and plug it into a full range speaker

You're hearing it through a microphone, then through KZbin compression, then through your PC or phone speakers. Not a true representation of the sound at all.
