Watch as I experiment with the Pebeo Fantasy Paints to create super easy enamel-like finishes on brass (and even cardboard!). I was really surprised and pleased with the end results - and sped-up the feed so you can watch paint dry while the effects appear.

By the way if you put a small bead in the Pebeo paints when you shake them they mix better. I love the crackle effect you got on the disk as they were drying and once they were dry they are really pretty.

I have just recently bought some of these paints - I love them and want to use them for jewellery-making. I have used copper and cardboard as bases. But have also made a few coasters using cardboard and then gluing felt to the back - great fun as there is more surface to play with. Then I cover them in resin.

I've used cardboard too! Resin makes me crazy as it's so precise but I bet it's awesome :)

You probably already know this, but if you hate dealing with resin because of having to mix the two parts and never having enough or always making too much, Lisa Pavelka makes a UV curing resin called Magic Glos (I think that's how it's spelled even though it's wrong). It will cure in direct sunlight or under an artificial UV light. It cures in 15-30 minutes under a UV lamp but cure time in the sun depends on strength of the sun and the ambient temp. and humidity. You use it straight out of the bottle, so you don't have to worry how much to make. It really makes working with resin so much easier. It is also self-doming. Which reminds of your meniscus comment...I think you were actually looking for the term surface tension. But, a meniscus is caused by surface tension, so you were technically correct. I think more people are more familiar with the term surface tension than meniscus. I use the Pebeo Fantasy paints on polymer clay. They are so much fun! I never would have thought to use them on metal. Now I have another surface to use them on.

Try Japanese resin, it cures in 30 seconds under uv lamp, it is much cheaper than magic glos and is not sticky and no mixing, just squeeze straight from the bottle, they have it on EBay, Amazon and Etsy. Also it does not yellow like other resins and is non toxic xx

Hi. As I am very impatient, do you think I could use uv resin over the top and cure once the paint has semi set ? 🦆

I doubt it? The Pebeo has to be able to move around. You could try it tho!

FYI I did try resin over semi-set prisme in a bezel (gold tone), it had a lovely mottled effect before but after adding resin it lost all effect and looked like amber (should have embedded a bug in it ha ha) 😆🦆
