That glue trick is probably one of the smartest moves I have ever come across , agriculturally speaking.

Very cool method that looks on the easier to master side. Does the scion wood need to be dormant? Just wondering if I could graft actively growing scionwood with this method.
@maozedung72702 жыл бұрын
I tried that methode with 3 walnut trees but it did not work...the flaps dried out and the scions died.I protected the grafts from sunlight. I think it would be better to make the flaps on the scion wood and let the bare sap wood (Xylem) of the trunk longer to get the sap of the Xylem into the scion. But that is just my theory, I have to try "my" methode in the coming spring....

What time of year is the best time to graft.? Where is a source for branches to graft?
@NobleResearchInstitute4 жыл бұрын
Time to graft using the four flip method is after the tree starts growing in the spring, until temperature are in the upper 90s. Typically in southern Oklahoma grafting can be done mid April through June. Graftwood is collected and available from January through May. I would recommend Hoffman Pecan Farms in Stillwater Oklahoma or WoMack Nusery in Texas. Both offers good graftwood from most of the recommended cultivars.

When he says be careful not to put a finger on the back of the rootstock while making the cut because it can cut right through. He means RIGHT THROUGH in into your thumb or finger! Ouch! I did not listen to this advice and had a lot of blood to clean off my floor after bandages were applied. Thumbs bleed profusely.
