During each restoration we have a problem with greasy parts - it needs to be cleaned. That's why I made a bathtub for washing parts.
-All the materials used are in your environment, very easy to make.
-Enjoy!!!

These kinds of videos drive me nuts. I have the tools and experience to do projects like this but my imagination sucks. I never would've thought of this. Great job man! I got online looking for reviews on different brands of part washer cabinets before buying one. Now I want to build one. I even have an extra power supply from upgrading my PC build. I think you just saved me $200. THANK YOU! Jerry was a nice touch. That cracked me up. Lol.

Very creative use of scrap tank. I was thinking of creating the same from used and discarded outdoor barbeque grills. Often these are of the correct height and size to convert to a parts washer, with a cabinet made from stainless steel. Your use of a fuel pump and PC power supply have given me more creative ideas, too. Thanks for sharing this video.

I recently completed this project using a set of hand trucks as a stand to make mine more portable, low psi 12 volt fuel pump, an a computer power supply cord to power it. Works great but on mine a brush instead of the nozzle is a MUST or the splatter will cover you. Thank you for the inspiration and great money saving idea!

Looks great...the only change I would have made is to plumb a filter into the pressure part of the system to filter out dirt and prolong the fluid and pump life.

Prices for mild steel have considerably raised lately. Currently it would be expensive to build all that. At the same time it looks like it all worth the trouble. I might be wrong, but try adding a 25l canister with fluid beneath the structure. Install 2 ball valves in a canister wall. 1 in a very bottom to remove heavy oil fractions and one in a top to remove light oil fractions. Suction is to install somewhere in a middle. That is of course if a pump can perform suction, as some of those can't. That will provide you cleaner fluid to wash with as fluid fractions tend to separate in layers. It is not necessary, but will grant you additional video and improve your part washer.

Nice project. Making a decent sized parts washer has been on my (Rather long) "To Do" list for ages. Never thought about basing it on a gas cylinder though. I'm now thinking that an old 47kg propane cylinder could be the ideal size (1290x375mm) for what I want. I mostly degrease old machine parts, but when you get up to the size of tank that can take things like 1 metre long lead screws, they're bloody expensive to buy, and pretty expensive to fill with cleaning solution. I'm not sure how long the fuel pump will work for though. They apparently rely on the fuel going through them to lubricate certain parts. I'm pretty sure that running a degreaser through the thing's going to kill it........ But the question is "How long will it last"? If it burns one up in 30 to 40 hours of use it can almost be seen as a consumable part, but if it's only 2 to 3 hours of use between failure's, replacing it is going to get old and expensive very fast.
@frederikmare9002
@frederikmare9002 Жыл бұрын
I liked your comment! However, don't even consider cutting a gas cylinder with an angle grinder without taking the necessary precautions!... The sparks WILL cause the tank to explode!!!... In your face, and you will most probably be killed!
@Reman1975
@Reman1975 Жыл бұрын
@@frederikmare9002 Don't worry mate, I've been alive long enough to know the danger that even "Empty" gas cylinders pose. I've actually got a large propane cylinder in the garage right now that I grabbed to eventually turn into a log burner. It's had the valve out of it for about 6 or 7 months, it's been filled up with water and emptied once, and sometimes, when I finish with my compressor for the day, and need to dump the pressurised air, if I can't be bothered to grope around under the tank for the drain valve, I'll just wedge my small "Palm" blow off gun in the threaded valve hole on this cylinder, because it fit's there with the trigger held in perfectly, and it blows dried air around in the propane cylinder. I do this partly to stop any condensation building up in it and creating more rust that I'll need to grind out. Out of the 5 or 6 times I've "Repurposed" pressure vessels into barbecues/garden waste burners, I don't think ANY of them have been purged as thoroughly as this one has. :D
