If set my rod down after and I get a fast run won’t my rod get pulled in what’s the method for this where I fish it’s a cat/carp lake and a Cat would most likely pull my rod in on a run

just out of curiosity is I fish thin line, if usin the clip would that not give the line more strain? ..... i like to use my runner, give the fish some line if its kickin. Or am i missing something simple? as silly as it it sounds lol.

do you leave it clipped up. Surely line breaks if fish takes and runs? (give me slack,I'm a noob lol)

yes un clip dude! u will be swimming out after that rod otherwise! It's only for getting the distance correct on each cast. Once u have found the spot ur happy with, wind in, set up some bank sticks or specific wrap sticks 12 foot apart, unwind ur line counting the wraps as u go, make a note in ur book of the swim and the distance in wraps, then u only have to do all this once! u can unwrap the line every time rnd the sticks, clip up and cast to the same spot every time.

Or you could just walk it out along the bank if you’re not fishing too far out. 👍🏻

Or once u have it clipped up tie sm pole elastic on the line at your spigget or at and of your rod this way u can cast away from your spot reel in until the elastic nearly touches your end eye then clip up and cast to it spot

I think he has not completely explained about the measured cast try Matt Hayes carp video if you can handle him :), he does explain it a bit better.
