Wow! That is great sound quality on the "priviledged" tones! Often when somebody tries that it sounds like blowing through a rag in the mouthpiece. Great job!

I love the padding. I played sousaphone from 6th grade through highschool. My left collarbone is deformed from carrying the sousaphone for so many years. It doesn't say much, but I was 1st chair tuba in a line of 4... Lol. Anyways, a clean razor shaved face will give a much crisper sound. Also, don't be shy about those mouthpiece extenders. Yeah, you'll be 1/32nd of a note flat, but those low notes will sound soooo good. Having a powerful diaphragm always helps. Quiet folk need not apply lol!

Also, try shifting the mouthpiece off to one side or the other. You might be able to play better one way on your left side, and then better at something else on your right side. Don't be afraid to experiment with the mouthpiece placement.

Hi Carim, thanks for your videos. On my sousa, I play the false tone in low register on the Eb (F in Bb). I did not manage to see well the fingerings you used.

Hi! I play it with the first valve, like in the middle register
@thallender7 жыл бұрын
ok. Did you try false tone ? (Eb = 0) . I will try with the first valve too
@remigache45107 жыл бұрын
I will try it! Maggio also recommends 123, but he's a trumpet teacher...

@@remigache4510 123 works for me. D is open, Db is 2, C is 1, B is 12, Pedal Bb open, just as it is 2 octaves above.

@@Marko-vp1qq Hi! Unfortunately, I won't be able to make a video about this very soon. If you don't find what you need on other tutorials, I can give you a private lesson about that. I am happy to help.

@@remigache4510 sure sir, What warm ups you usually before playing saousaphone?
@remigache45104 жыл бұрын
@@Marko-vp1qq It depends on how much time I have :). Generally, I try to warm each fundamental thing of brass playing: Breathing, flexibility and tonguing. Can we maybe continue this in private conversation. You can find my facebook page withe this name: remi.gache.9

Personally, I think the pedal Bb sounds better on bass trombone.

Hi! You’re false tone fingerings are not correct... Eb = 0, D = 2, Db = 1, C = 1+2, B = 2+3, Bb = 1+3, A = 1+2+3. :-) thanks for your videos they’re really great... I’ll try and do a video response to show you too :-)

For reference, Eb on a 4 valve BBb would be 1+4, D would be 1,2+4, Db 2,3+4 etc I'm not too sure if you're implying that false pedals (if that's the right term, that is the half an octave from Eb to Bb pedal that require a 4th valve to ordinarily reach on a Bb, but are being played with only 3 here) need different fingering from the normal ones when played with a 4th valve but I'm a bit dubious of what you're saying, to be frank
