I absolutely want one of those PB numberplate mounts. MOAR MERCH! Glad to see that the phenolic ply hasn't rotted in any way, that was always my worry with what is essentially a wooden splitter...

Great update once again, I would of probably gone the easier route for tow eye like cutting and grafting TT/A3 as it has big fat threads 😂 ETA on 1st road test? 🤞

I really wouldn't trust rivnuts for a part that will take that much load. Not trying to knock the build or anything but being tugged out of a gravel trap can take quite a bit of heaving. Last thing the recovery crew will want is a 5lb shackle coming back towards them at some speed. Personally I would drill through both sides of the cross-member and weld threaded tubes in on both ends.

Valid point, With the weight and easy of moving it I hadn't considered the "buried in gravel to the hilt" part of getting it moving at the start. Drilling right through and sleeving might be the right answer. Thanks for the suggestion. There's another episode in the can coming down the line where the rivnuts went in. But that might be something to do the next time we're on is change that. We'd talked (briefly) about putting them on both sides but hadn't got that far because (spoilers) the resin ply has failed pretty spectacularly on the splitter. Might be a while, but the more I think about it, going right through does make a lot of sense.
