To Andy and Reverb, I bought one of these pedals based on this video and the enthusiasm and smile on Andy's face while he was playing through it :) still waiting for delivery and having sleepless nights! Cheers and kudos!

I bought this a bit over a year ago when I heard how the jcm pedal sounded. One thing was a bit confusing: they said that this pedal is modeled after plexi's preamp. This pedal doesn't have the eq curve that preamps have, so you cannot plug this straight into a power amp and sound good. This pedal needs to be plugged into a preamp or at least into an eq that has the preamp eq curve that one desires.

pikkuarska I play mine through a Fender Deluxe Reverb and it sounds amazing!
@pikkuarska6 жыл бұрын
That it does =) Though I may be a bit heretic since most of the time I have all knobs dialed at 10, boost it with a TS and play thrash metal :D
@murphshall6 жыл бұрын
pikkuarska I use mine with everything around halfway and it gives me a perfect sound for Kiss "rock & roll all nite & party everyday" tone, then boost it with a VooDoo lab sparkle drive for solo's and I love it! It's probably the best all around pedal I have, and I have a lot ;) I haven't even messed with the internal EQ yet.

Nothing against the Plexi Drive(which I own), Purple Plexi, Dirty Little Secret, etc. but IMO, for about the same money, the Pal800 & 959 not only sound more authentic and more amp like, they're also hand built w/ all the controls of the real thing (plus an internal tone). Obviously, there's something to copying the actual amp's circuitry that helps it capture the mojo of the original. Those other pedals seem to lack something in the extreme highs(that Marshall crack & sizzle) but the Pals TRULY sound like a "Marshall in a box". With a Pal pedal and just a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, you'd probably sound amazing. Having both a beautiful clean and a killer Marshall gain. Good review btw.

Not trying to dispute because I don't know but did you try Hot-Rod Plexi (Tech21) or PlexiTone (Carl Martin)?
@sojerz10444 жыл бұрын
Do you tried both, have a preference?
@t-boog21734 жыл бұрын
@@sojerz1044Well, I had a Plexi Drive clone and I own the Pal800 Gold. I've never played a Purple Plexi or a DLS. At the time, I was judging these pedals based on the videos. Let me just say, my gold overdrive sounds killer. It's not super gainy but it def puts a Fender in Marshall territory. Also, judging by new videos I've seen, the Dirty Little Secret sounds amazing too if you're after the Plexi sound and not to add to your option anxiety but if your after a convincing JCM800 sound, the Texas Harmonic HotMod800 sounds killer and so does the Pal800 Silver. My Pal800 Gold is more versatile but it's a little less cutting, like a real JCM800, than the Silver. I actually really wanted the Silver but I got a great used deal on the Gold. Anyway, I hope that helped and if you have any more questions, I'm very happy to answer.

Great playing on that first number! We know you're a fantastic player, especially at replicating a variety of different players' styles and tones. However, this time I was hearing a strong, high quality Pagey influence from Zep's RnR while at the same time feeling like it was coming from you and you alone, and that takes some serious talent and smart choices. Well done, Andy!

I feel like putting this pedal in front of the mini-jubilee would basically give you the best of that “slash” tone as well as the “Jimi” and “zeppelin” tones! I think that’s my plan! Oh, and of course, a tube-screamer!

So could you just run this pedal straight into the power amp in ?
@tobybrundin8622 жыл бұрын
it's designed to go into the front end of an amp so puts out a high impedance signal; if you use a DI box it will work

@edadpops17096 жыл бұрын
Gatpig reverb should ship world wide ..no?
@incubism6 жыл бұрын
Nope. If you are in New Zealand Reverb won't even return the product in a search as one of the main filters is 'does the seller ship to your region'. I am yet to be able to buy anything from Reverb and I buy a lot of gear. I guess I should thank them for saving me money lol.

@piercewilkins86256 жыл бұрын
Still a fantastic pedal tho
@AndyDemos6 жыл бұрын
There isn't any trickery going on with the gain in this demo. I played a Fender Deluxe Reverb on 3. You'll get more gain if you turn up the master volume on the pedal and push the amp. Cheers, Andy
@Earl000016 жыл бұрын
Andy's amp is in an isolation booth with an extension cab. He is able to move some air making it break up more. That's why his demos sound so good.

Dropped in to say the demo is accurate in both tone and gain range. Excellent Plexi pedal!

Great! Except it doesn’t sound like a plexi. It sounds like a Carl Martin Plexitone.
