Love the pedal, Phil. Ultimately, that's one of the main sounds us hard rock fans are always chasing. A suped up JCM 800 sound.

This is a bit off the subject. Out of a room full of speakers in a Post Exchange, the best sounding was JBL. An acoustic guitar was coming through as if it was in the same room. Is there any particular brand of Amp that is as clear sounding or are they all about the same?

every time I hear this thing I'm impressed by it. Currently my core tone is the ZVEX Box of Rock, a JMT (or tm?) pedal, but I might need to get this too. Ugh. GAS.

Hey Phil, have you heard of the Matrix VB 800? Speaking of JCM 800 emulation? It's a hybrid amp that literally is built to be a JCM 800. I've only seen 5 year old demos of it.

I have one! I tend to lend it at gigs to the other guitarist. Definitely in the JCM800 ballpark. Only quibble I'd have is that is kinda sounds like what it is - the JCM800 pre-amp wedded to a really good solid state Matrix power section. Sounds great, but some of the JCM800 sound comes from the valve power section pumping away (although I guess a lot of pub and club players could never crank it loud enough for that). I also have the BluGuitar AMP1 and the Classic on that can do a very good JCM800 sound and I prefer its sound overall.

I just turn the knob on my Line 6 Spider III 75w to the JCM800 setting and I get a tone that you would swear was KK Downing and Glenn Tipton. Just a spot on tone. So why would I spend all that money on another stompbox? (no swearing when you give your reasons lol) Nice review Phil. You are still the best.
