Derek is not outside the conversation for the best in the world. I've seen him live. Also seen Gibbons, Betts, Haynes, B.B., Mayer, Clapton, Winwood, you name 'em. Recently, you're quoted as saying Rory Gallagher and Terry Kath are elite level players deserving of similar respect. What world do you inhabit where you can give those dudes immense credit (which you don't have the right to pass out any more than I), but can't give Derek his due? Rory and Terry would show respect. You better than them? Clapton said Duane was the best in the world way back when Layla was being cut. Derek is real close, if not past, where Duane was skill wise when he crashed that bike in Macon. It's my opinion, sure, but it's an educated one. You go listen to Chicago. I'm going to go listen to Trucks recreate Coltrane saxophone masterpieces on a SG with a bottleneck and I guarantee I'll still be happy. The solos on 25 or 6 to 4 are dumb fire though. High compliment from one of the greatest blues guitar players in history.. Derek Trucks plays in somewhat of a BB King style but takes it to a whole new level.
The best guitar solos have nothing to do with what technicality you bring . It’s where you put the notes. It’s the pauses between the notes. The build. Why you think Bb king is so famous. He doesn’t do anything technical or fast. But he’s got soul. So does John and so does Derek trucks. This solo he laid down is insane. And with a slide. Every note put in perfectly . Builds with the band. Ends softly so king can come back in nice and smooth. Nobody on here should have a negative comment about anyone on here . Strictly for the fact …. They are up there and you are here 😂.

"That's about the best I've ever heard." ~ B.B. King, blues legend, describing the guitar skills of Derek Trucks, nephew of Duane Allman
@beckalaaa6960 Жыл бұрын
Derek is excellent. I think even Stevie Ray Vaughn, God rest his soul, would play with him! Stevie Ray was the absolute best at R&B. Oh how I miss him to this day! I'll never forget where I was when I heard, on the radio, that he was killed. I almost had a wreck myself & had to pull over. When I arrived at work in downtown Fort Worth all I could do was cry. Here's to Stevie Ray & Derek glad you're here to play for us. We appreciate you man!!

Derek brought the house down as a young kid at a benefit for children, it was a 3 day event and he was absolutely off the chain as a young kid. I still have the t shirt with the signature guitar 🎸..I did stage set up and security for the benefit, it was a great event.

For a pure straight up blues side guitar it doesn't get better this. Maybe as good but better. Wow this was special .

I love how he uses with the volume knob to soften individual notes. It really adds to the vocal style he plays with. Its a bummer that he's not more well known. Same with his wife. Two absolute powerhouses of blues.

Not gonna lie, you hear a lot of people imitating SRV and Jimi well, but everyone I hear trying to imitate Trucks hardly ever comes close.... this full video is phenomenal, and John Mayer is mesmerized, and has his face literally buried in Trucks' guitar. #ThatSlideThough
@p4our5872 жыл бұрын
… and his face. I noticed that from the start of this video. People do like to witness the skills of other people… true. … but you ever notice that the ones with honest passion, true to their heart? They will look at your face to see if they can understand where that skill is coming from? Where it resides & where it's born? Your emotions help people to understand. I think his eyes are stuck on his face?

A friend of mine's big brother was one of BB Kings security detail. One night my friend got a call from his brother telling him BB King was having a party and he could bring him to the party. BB put a chair down in the center of the room broke out Lucille and just jamed for a couple of hours. Way to cool.

When they say 'It's all in the fingers'. This is what they mean. His fingers with the dynamics of the tubes in the amp, are NEXT LEVEL. I'm not even a fan of this genre or 'shredding', but this man just put his souls into those strings, pickups and feet board.
