Jolly good show. Me and my boy used to raise game chickens pretty much the way you do. Never been to a chicken fight, never strapped a blade on one........ but I did enjoy the naked-heel sparring between young stags when they were learning to fly.

There ya go! My granny never had a chicken in a pen. They roosted in the barn at night and scavenged all day. We scattered a little cracked corn and laying mash on the ground. She had coffee cans here and there to catch rain water off the barn roof. We had fresh eggs all day every day and fried chicken for dinner every Sunday and still a yard full of them. Do it the way you like to do it!

I raised gamefowl for over 30 years. I had my way of doing things that worked for me. And for that intire time people in the gamefowl community wete constantly telling me all the different ways i was messing up. But, i was happy with my success, and my water bowls looked just like yours most of the time. My daddy told me when i was young, algea wont grow in stail unhealthy water. And tested that theory and he was right. I got rid of all my gamefowl a year ago because of the direction the gamefowl community is going. It was a difficult discussion after having a 37 year long passion, but, God has helped me with it and ive come out the other side of ot closer to him and that is a greater blessing than all the gamefowl in the world could have provided. Keep doing things your way and dont let the experts of this world get under your skin. Love your videos brother and God bless you and yours.

I think you did a good service to the complainers today by shocking 'em with something they might not get very often... Honesty.."If you don't enjoy my chicken videos, you can just leave and go somewhere else!"... With social media, a LOT of folks sure do have an inflated opinion of the worth of their opinions! I follow Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs, and he had a good one that he shared. Some woman sent him a message to let him know that she was VERY DISAPPOINTED on his opinion piece on something or the other that he wrote and she felt it was her DUTY to set him straight! He just let her know how AMAZED he was that she thought ANYBODY cared about her being disappointed about his opinion, since not a soul she was criticizing even knew who in the devil she even was and that she could just leave and go somewhere else and not one person would even know that she was gone. He was real classy and funny in the way he went about it, but the effect was just the same ... Something to the effect of "Nobody cares what you are disappointed in, not even your mama. She is ashamed of you for trying to boss grown folks around" .... Side note... I see there's enough little boy in you to try to throw some corn on the chickens that are too sassy, just to see if it'll stick! Or maybe I'm just seeing what I'd be doing if I was feedin em! Maybe the peskiest ones will get pecked as payback! Take care, Justin

Hey Justin! All things considered... a chicken has a pretty rough life... but they are generally content with a lot less than some domesticated animals. As long as you enjoy their crowing, eggs, meat, & beautiful plumage the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages/obligations. Generally... a chicken that is raised on a farm has a much better quality of life than one that is raised in a vast commercial pen that has never seen the sun or walked on grass. You keep on doing you... and the birds (and you) will do just fine!

I just think they are the sharpest looking chicken I've got. They did breed with my bantams and the babies are growing out different colors. I think the one is getting a poofy hairdo. I'm experimenting I guess. Please don't stop your chicken videos. A friend can monitor your comments and you can read them like the next day. PS I value your weed medicine videos also. My mentor alway told me the green growth in the water cups is healthy for the birds. The red algae is the harmful one. I love my birds and I take very good care of them but I'm here to tell you I don't bleach water cups every day. Heck chickens will drink out of a mud hole before they drink out of a clean water cup. I did lose 6 stags this year from azalea blossoms blowing in the water cups. You fowl looks good to me.

Ive been raising gamefowl and showing them for 8 years brother I honestly feel that the way you raise your birds are just fine what works for you might not work for others and how others raise there birds won't work for you I agree what you do for care and maint etc.. I mean look how the old gen use to raise birds they never had what we have now days and there birds were better than what we have these days honestly speaking and that's because most of those old heads wouldn't use medicines they would cull and breed the ones that would overcome anything thrown at them and that would pass to those babies then the babies would never get sick a day in there life
@terryfinley7760

You are 100% correct about what you are doing. I keep Dominique’s and various other chickens and have never lost 1 to sickness. I feed my chicks which I mostly hatch in an incubator medicated chick starter. Then, I introduce them to the flock. I keep them in two 12 ft x 12 ft pens on each side of my barn. I use the deep mulch method meaning that I put 6” deep to 8” deep bedding/ straw or hay in the pen. I don’t change it for quite awhile. The birds love to scratch through it and they keep it turned. They eat worms and whatever else they find in it. I also let them out to forage in the evenings when I get home from work. They are very healthy and I have not had 1 adult bird die from sickness in 3 years. I do not use any medicine other than the medicated chick starter. The eggs are 10 times better than anything you can get in the grocery store !

Chickens are just naturally nasty birds and clean water wont stay clean for very long . For years I kept up to 40 birds who I let out of the henhouse/pen every morning and then back in to spend the night . The free range birds are very enjoyable to watch out in the yard and they graze a lot of grass and bugs . The varmints around my place kept me looking out my windows a lot . I dubbed my single shot shotgun my " 12 ga. varmint rifle ." Never had a problem with sickness except for the occasional one . I fully agree with your philosophy.. raise your birds by what works for you . Haters will always be haters and they can take a high dive into the septic tank . Good show as always .

I just don't know how to put this.....we raised birds for both meat and eggs. I really don't remember doing anything fancy. Clean the coop every here and there....our birds had a crick going through their yard so water wasn't an issue unless they couldn't be outside. Very cold weather. Snow. Ice. Ect. But still we didn't clean the water bowl. Not every day. Our birds did fine. The worst we had was predator problems. We solved that issue. I won't go into that. No Justin you ain't doing anything wrong that I see. And yes I like your chickens talking in the background. Maybe one day I will be able to visit in person but for now I can dream and watch videos. Everyone has an opinion, and some of them are compelled to tell you what they think in the comments. What you do on your place, how well you treat your chickens, is completely up to you. Any response that you make to a negative comment will not change the minds of those making the comments. Responding to those comments is simply a waste of your time. Life is too short!

All I have to say is Gamefowl are not the chickens my Momma raised. She raised Leg Horns & Rhode Island Reds for eggs. The old layers that did not produce, excellent soup chickens, if you know what I mean. The white heavy meat chickens Cornish Cross for food; got so heavy some of them could barely walk. At the right time they went to freezer camp. In due time I will have chickens but not at my present location here in Florida. The Gamefowl I really like is the Liege Fighter they are beautiful birds; the rooster, 30" tall, are extremely protective. Like one Florida owner of Gamefowl, 8th or 9th generation, says only the strong in the flock will survive. Especially when you let them free range. Enjoy your Gamefowl!!! Ignore the Karen's; they are like a kid throwing a temper tantrum, they want it their way so ignore them!!! 🐔🐓

Yeah to each it's own. We eat all kinds of stuff that aren't good for us. Should treat all your animals how you want to be treated. We are no greater than any animal. We were out here to take care of animals not just have them for our pleasure and treat them just however you feel is right.

We literally had a kid die on a school buss last week. It’s because they never play outside and can’t handle the heat. Died of heat stroke at 10 years old. Sad but its similar to the dirt no tolerance for adversity. I know it was bad hot and they need ac on the bus but weve not had ac on em for 60+ years because we were used to it
