That was right thoughtful of you to help that raccoon out and help him to achieve his dream of becoming a hat one day.👍🏻😂

Wow, this was really helpful. My son wanted to start trapping and I’d never done it and we ended up with a great raccoon hide. I got that “dull fishing knife you mentioned😂. It’s terrible even after I sharpened it. So I’ve got an actual fleshing knife on the way. Thanks again for the video!

I just got a orange bottle to use on my squirrel hides. Thanks for the demo. I made a little fleshing beam the perfect size for small animals so I can sit and break hides.

What’s the least amount of time for hide to be in salt and pickle? My son is doing a fox hide and just put it in salt yesterday. He’d like to have it done pretty soon. Thanks, we enjoy your videos!

I’ve used the orange bottle and professional products like McKenzie brush on tan, same process, same result. Everything you do before the tanning is what most people mess up on. If they don’t do that right, no tanning product will work.

I totally agree with you there. I struggle sometimes because it stays warm here and I forget to keep up with it and the hair will slip. Its not the product its my fault for not staying on top of what im doing. I use eggs and brains and this and murpheys oil soap

That’s right. I just recently started using professional supplies for some nice furs I didn’t want to mess up like otters and such. Their ultimate acid and degreaser is a perfect combo!

@@SpiritoftheOutdoors I think the main ingredient is elbow grease. It’s a lot of work. I learned to do it along with flintknapping before KZbin or at least before it was popular enough to find many videos on. I need to upload some videos I guess, but I’m so busy with my job. About time to slow down and get out of the rat race and back to doin things I enjoy

Don't leave em' case skinned if you want to use the fur for a hat. Open skin it before you tan and break it. And as long as you use leather oil or conditioner on the fur you don't need to smoke it. The smoking just makes it resistant to water and vermin, but oil will do the exact same thing, and even makes the leather more supple.
