The fact that in every moment in the show and every trailer he was included in, Yano was portrayed to be this mysterious, menacing figure, with his voice never shown and even with a fittingly mysterious voice actor...and after all of this buildup, his debut is him crashing into Odokawa with his scooter and then aggressively rapping at him telling him to apologize....this anime is absolutely legendary

Yano's introduction is easily the funniest thing about oddtaxi, before this, the only place you really saw him was at the opening and when he actually appears in the anime he does this, with absolutely no warning

Yeah wow! And I also think since the kanji for "ya" in his name means "arrow" so it might also be connected to him being a porcupine, which has spikes/needles.

He also says things like "Ore Mo Iya No" which means "I'm fed up" along with things like "Ore Ga Yano" which just means "I'm Yano". It's a play on words because they sound extremely similar when said fast in a rap. It's a triple layer meaning!

I recommend this anime to anyone. Clever and interesting, intellectually stimulating yet funny. Characters speak like normal humans, none of that anime-style squeeling. Lots of references etc.

We have them. Cowboy Bebop, Great Pretender and ODD TAXI are part of a sub-category which anime based-off western culture belongs to. Actually, I don't know too much about it, but just look for the creator of Cowboy Bebop and you'll find a little bunch of Seinen series very different from most mainstream products. You could also just search for Seinen anime in general, like "Erased".

This anime is pure love. I wish they had more cute animal animes like this but with serious tones. Instead we get beast stars...not my cup of tea. I prefer this style and type of story telling; makes the story that much more intense and emotional when you connect to the different cute animals. Kind of like aggretsuko. You tend to root for your favorite character too. The animals in this anime are so varied too, not just cute cat and bunny girls. Love the taxi driver and that he's a walrus. ♡♡♡
