I just went deep into these songs, remembered my ipod, my girlfriend (now wife), my room, my friends, my vinyls... Then I had to turn it off because it's late, gotta go to work tomorrow morning and my daughter just woke up.

Just saw David with Pedro the Lion (Tim Walsh on drums / I missed the guitarist's name...) last night in Denver, and they crushed it. Some new lyrics on some of the older tracks replaced the older religious lyrics. They just played a tight show, start to finish. Fourth time seeing David over the years in different settings (solo, duo, band) and he's always good, but with this Pedro revitalization he's leading right now, I would highly recommend!! Strongest show I've seen him do yet. Can't really compare to those intimate living room shows because it is so different...both were great.

They played a couple shows in Seattle in December, so - in a way - they started the tour there. Sorry you missed them!

Cool song but the mix is a little muddy. Turn the bass guitar up just a little and use a sidechain compressor to duck it behind the kick drum. EQ the vocals a bit and notch out a spot in the guitar for them, maybe sidechain to duck the guitar behind vocals as well. If that doesn't clear up the vocals enough, maybe try giving him a Beta 57a instead of the 58a. Tilt the mic on the tom up a little, toward the middle of the head. Overall a good mix, just lacks a little clarity. Don't forget to listen on a variety of speakers. Sounds ok on HD280's, not so good on HD595's, nearfield monitors, or hifi. Sorry to be nitpicky, it is a good mix overall. Thanks for the music!

i'm going to see them in august, but i'm worried about dave's voice...it seems wobbly, and weaker. when you push yourself and work as hard as he does, a little wear-and-tear is normal, but i would hate to see him damage such a naturally beautiful instrument.
@dearheloise6 жыл бұрын
but wow, he put together a sick band. he's always picked great players to work with. love the meat-and-potatoes Kim Deal bass lines too.
@notalkjustpedals32113 жыл бұрын
He’s singing to himself playing bass rather than guitar. It’s different if you have ever tried it.
