first square = P second square = P + 5 Equation: P^2 + (P+5)^2 = 625 P^2 + (P+5)(P+5) = 625 2P^2 +10P -600 = 0 Factored by GCF: 2(P^2 + 5P -300) = 0 can still be factored: (P + 20) (P - 15) P = -20 // P = 15 By Checking: 15 for the first square while 15 + 5 which is 20 for second square. 15^2 = 225 // 20^2 = 400 225 + 400 = 625 625 = 625

D ba masmahaba Ang length kesa width sir. Lenght is the longer side while the width is the shorter side of rectangle. Ganun lagi ang turo ko sa mga bata ko sa grade 6. Pasensya na po kung kinokorect kita😅

walang problema, may kanya-kanya tayong ways on how to help our students to understand concepts in mathematics. I mentioned at around 3:00 minutes na it doesn't matter which one is the L or the W dahil sa formula for the area, we are using L*W and pwede magbaliktad ang assigned value for L and W since magaapply ang commutative property of multiplication. With your L is the Longer side while W is the shorter side, medyo may confusion pag gagamitin ko yung idea na yan. That's the first time I am hearing L is assigned as the longer side in a rectangle.

@@teacherrolly8377 Here's my proof based on the rule of commutative under the operation of multiplication: Let's consider a rectangle with side lengths a and b, where a and b are positive real numbers. Proof: 1. The area of a rectangle is given by the formula: Area = length × width 2. Let's assign a as the length and b as the width. Area = a × b 3. Now, let's assign b as the length and a as the width. Area = b × a 4. By the commutative property of multiplication, we have:a × b = b × a 5. Therefore, the area calculated in step 2 and step 3 is the same, regardless of whether a is assigned as the length and b as the width, or vice versa. This proof holds for any positive real values of a and b, as long as they represent the two different side lengths of the rectangle. Hence, it is mathematically valid to assign either of the two side lengths as the length or the width when computing the area of a rectangle, as the product a × b remains the same. Sa argument mo na length will always hold the longer side and width will hold the shorter side may work to help your students in learning how to use geometric formula but it's a little problematic dahil confusing ang claim mo lalo na pag dating ng bata sa pagaaral ng calculus (calculating for optimization at related rates problem). If sa tinging mo eh "mali ako kahit saan mo tingnan" then give me your proof para matanggap ko ang pagkakamali ko.
