Of course, but I think they are missing what a PDA is. A PDA is not holding hands, hugging, or kissing. A PDA is when you're hot and heavy making out, grinding against each other, hands going under clothes, and friends shouting, "GET A ROOM!" If you love someone, feel free to show it. If you're having sex with someone, please spare me the details.

@@nyx9875 kinda, but the question stating it is affection ends up making it look a lot more like cuddling hugging kissing and stuff than literal PS
@literaltrash518910 күн бұрын
@nyx9875 I personally disagree with the whole kissing, hugging, and holding hands isn't PDA, because technically speaking it is. Those things are all displays of affection while they don't always have romantic intentions they are still ways to show affection towards someone and if you're doing out in public then that would be considered a public display of affection. While PDA can definitely be uncomfortable at times it doesn't have to be uncomfortable for it to be PDA.

Considering the last one sparked a ton of discussion there, I do want to add a point. Sometimes you have to lie when someone's safety is at risk. At certain abusive situations I have had to protect someone from getting hurt by lying, other times it is important to lie to keep a secret (like when someone comes out to you but wants you to keep it a secret and then the family asks you about it), and there are times when you have to sugar coat a situation, especially with children, which is basically lying.
@TANred982 жыл бұрын
I had a similar thought where, if you were the person hiding Anne Frank in your attic, wouldn't it be a whole lot better to just lie, as the main point was with good intentions.

@defiasremix41852 жыл бұрын
Don't sugarcoat things for children. All you're doing is stunting their understanding of the real world. It's not helpful, kids retain the knowledge they learn when they're young and it helps them grow into themselves as they develop. Sometimes when we think we're protecting youth, we're only hurting their potential. It's a harsh reality but the one we live in The other two points I agree with tho
@ravenstorm51412 жыл бұрын
It's very situational for me. If it's keeping a secret, heck yeah. I've lied to my mom so many times to cover my siblings(not abuse, just my siblings trusting me). Like Jackie said, most people don't need to know everything about everyone and everything. If my mom needed to know, that's my siblings business to tell. Not mine.

@sideways51532 жыл бұрын
I think the only reason Ian knows so many depressing and controversial things is because he cares deeply about other people and has that kind of instinct to know what’s wrong and why so he doesn’t make it happen again and so he can help or be sensitive to people’s needs Also his brand was developed when he was a pretty young teenager and at this point he’s just sorta committed on some level to the asshole character, whether he is (or ever was) one or not

This is by far the best Smosh "learn about the cast" video. The other ones, like the panel show style and food making one, and especially the meme one, we can't participate. Yeah we can guess but we know a fraction of the real people behind the characters on the screen. And especially we don't know the crew, how can we guess that it was Kiana or Lisa who made the meme? We know nothing about them. But these are questions we can ask ourselves and form our own actual opinions on. We learn about the cast and we might even learn about ourselves.

Even now, I cannot tell you how many times I have to lie every month to cover someone's ass or protect my dad's feelings or abstain from giving my grandfather the whole truth to a matter because someone else told me to. I don't know what is a white lie or not anymore. I try to be honest with my friends because my family life is such a mess. Don't even get me started on the lying I had / have to do because of being in the closet (bi and transfem) from certain family members, including the one I depend on for housing. I hope someday I'll be able to lie less. Let's see if I live that far.

You know, I thought I was completely against lying, but this got me thinking. Probably not what you intended or meant, but I think in certain circumstances it becomes a necessity when it comes to abuse. Not in the case you described, absolutely not, transparency is best and could help end things. But in a situation where someone is in an abusive relationship (romantic, family or otherwise) and is isolated? I would argue lying or omission of truth can become necessary to get them out safely.

Absolutely. It could also be a timing thing, as in you maybe don't want to tell them right away if you're among other people and it could be embarrassing for them. Basically, there's lots of reasons to lie but it should definitely not be what any relationship is based off or something like that.

For the last one, about lying, I worked in a hospice and it changed my view on it. I had a family who's mother was dying. The kids were established adults, so they knew what was going on, as did the husband. She was simply very sick and wouldn't recover, she had less then 3 months left to live. The mother was never told the unfortunate news that she was going to pass away soon, the family wanted to keep it a secret so she could live the last of her days a bit happier. It was bizzare to see, but I think after a while I understood.
@TheStarliteRiver2 жыл бұрын
Oh and also in a long term care home, theres a lot of residents with dementia and other memory problems among a slew of things, so lots of the time they'll look at workers and helpers and think theyre their children. We tended to play pretend with them and call them mom or dad, grandma or grandpa, and hold their hand for a while, while they remember. Theres also some that carry around baby dolls or bears and call them their children or pets. So in cases like this I think its understandable that lying is okay. To make their life more comfortable.

Demi isn’t a sexuality btw. A sexuality is a “what”, not a “how”. So basically ‘what’ genders you are attracted to is the sexuality part, and the ‘how’ you are is the “demi” part. But ‘how’ isn’t what a sexuality is. That’s more just having standards.

I really enjoy this type of stuff because there's something interesting about having to take a hard and fast stance on something where you aren't really able to account for nuance and exceptions, but rather have to just give a general rule. Like, I feel bad lying about even the smallest and simplest things, but at times you have to lie for someone's safety. For example, some trans students where I work aren't out to their parents, so I would have to lie to the parents when communicating with them for the students' safety. However, I wouldn't include special cases such as that when answering it as a black and white question such as in this format and would stand on the side saying you shouldn't lie.
