I wonder what makes peeling an aporo this way 'Chinese?' We've done it like this since forever. I remember watching my great, great grandmother peeling fruit for preserving when I was a wee girl. I'm well in to my 70's now but the memories are still clear of sitting on the floor at her feet, playing with the skin spirals and chewing on the fruit slices she would hand down to me. Cheers from Aotearoa New Zealand.

I used to peel my apples but kept slicing off my one finger. I did it five times and the last time the surgeon attached it he said he would make me eat it if I did it again and since I didn't want to eat my finger I stopped peeling my apples and ate them with the skin and all their good nutrients did me wonders and caused all my other fingers to grow back.

The fastest I can peel an apple is 3 mins. I want to do it faster and I've seen it done like how she's doing it but I can never keep the blade constantly going in the same place like that to make one long peel. Is it the blade or how hard you press that matters?
@EasyChineseCooking8 жыл бұрын
The blade needs to be sharpish, and don't go for the speed before you are very confident about what you are doing. You only need to press it lightly to make sure its position. And just be very very careful:)
@LattePunch8 жыл бұрын
Thank you.
@michellebresil87457 жыл бұрын
Latte Punch a peeler works far better than a knife in that way (plus you lose less apple flesh). As for the speed it just takes practice, try to get an occasion. Personnaly, i baked 23 applepies and organized a charity sell out = helped a charity + I peel an apple in less 30 sec. Just giving ideas :)

This is how most oriental asians peel it... Chinese, Japanese, Korean... Yeah, we know that there are peelers you can use, but a lot of people (asians, I mean) have a different mindset. For some cases, people prefer this method because you feel the effort you put in for your children's food. This is coming from opinions of other people, not my own. And for others, some people like to show off their skill in cooking by peeling things in one go, like potatoes and stuff. It's kind of just like... the effort of making the food is that much more meaningful when a peeler ISN'T used., ya know? That's just the other point of view to those of you saying to just use a peeler because it's faster.
