I find A Hoarder’s Heart inspiring when it comes to craft supply decluttering. She practices “shopping her hoard” and does no spend challenges where she focuses on using and being grateful for what she has rather than buying new stuff. I had to stop knitting for awhile Becky my health but I recently got a knitting machine so I can craft with my disability, I’ve been focusing on using up what I already have it’s made my craft room more manageable and I feel good about finally using supplies that I’ve had for decades.

Mira, I thought of you today as I dropped off a bunch of stuff at Salvation Army. It's hard for me to let go of anything that belonged to my parents, which is why I've kept too much of their stuff for so long - even though I'm not using most of it. I easily descend into guilt and sadness and regret about getting rid of things that belonged to them. So, I thought of how you've struggled with certain things, but pushed through and moved forward anyway. It helped me not overthink the items I ended up donating today. Thanks for sharing your journey!

Hi Mira. I've been scrapbooking and general paper crafting since 1997 and have also accumulated a lot of supplies. I enjoy organizing and have homes for everything. However, when doing projects things just get messy. Like you I lean paper against my table legs when I'm working on those projects! I have a lot of stamp sets. My goal this year is to pare them down. Your decluttering journey is very inspiring.

One thing to consider, given the volume of scrapbooking supplies, is to think about letting go of the supplies that you purchased prior to a certain year (eg you mentioned that you started scrapbooking again in 2015). That way you’d have more space for the more recent items, which I’m assuming are more in the style that you like. Just a thought! Nice job! ❤

As a fellow crafter I know only too well how easy it is to drown in all the supplies and tools that you both need and want and how easy it is to forget and lose what you have. It’s also a hobby that necessitates lots of little things which are difficult to keep both organised and accessible. So good on you for getting stuck in and tackling such a momentous task. Keep going little by land you will get there. Anything you donate I’m sure will be very much appreciated by someone so it won’t be wasted. It was lovely to spend this hour with you Mira and I look forward to the next one ❤

For me, I followed Dana K White's method.. How to Declutter Without Making a Bigger Mess ... that seemed to work best for me... With crafting supplies there are so many categories, and small things, getting side tracked is a given... I found that doing one thing at a time, micro-organizing was getting nowhere fast... so I followed her method and it made a big dent in my stash and space. That allowed me to finally organize the supplies I ended up keeping.

Mira, I am only a few minutes in and I am already amazed. I am more of a hardcore minimalist, I grew up in a cluttered home but I never had a lot of attachment to stuff. Once I moved out and realized that I don't necessarily need to keep things, I could not be stopped. Nevertheless, I struggled with decluttering in some areas, especially when I got rid of categories that I am more attached to, like books or equipment for hobbies that I really enjoy (but have no use for). You on the other hand have a history of having a hard time to part with things and accumulating for decades. You told us about it in your videos, especially how there was never a good memory attached to letting go of anything. It has not even been a year, you just went through a period of extreme grief and now you are sitting over there in your scrap book room and light heartedly tell us about how you donated supplies you kind of regret buying. Do you even realize how freaking powerful this is?! :O Do you realize how far you have come? Most people struggle so hard with their hobby equipment, even when it's something they were never into in the first place or stopped doing decades ago. And even if they are willing to let some of the stuff go, wondering why they ever bought it in the first place, they try to sell it because they want to make up for their regret of buying it. I have no idea how you did it girl, but you trained your decluttering muscles like a champ in a very short amount of time. You are turning your life around at the speed of light. I cannot wait to watch the video all the way through.

I am living vicariously through your scrapbooking supplies. Everything you move, reveals such fun looking stuff. One suggestion on dealing with things that bounce off the desk and on to the floor (I'm looking at you beads) is to use the wisdom of the goldsmith. Goldsmiths often wear long aprons with loops at the bottom that hook onto their work benches. That way, if a teeny, wee, precious gem or piece of gold go flying, it will likely land in the apron and thus, be recoverable. I was thinking of doing this with stick-on velcro strips instead. And yes, a grabber is your friend. But, 2 or more grabbers, in different rooms, are even friendlier. Thank you for sharing your journey. 💖

You are an inspiration ❤. I have a craft room that has become a storage area. I've been depressed for some time now. I got very sick the year after I retired. Lost the use of my hands and feet. I spent two years in bed. My husband was so wonderful. He took care of me the house and my fur babies. By the Grace of God I got better was able to walk again. And use my hands again. Then a year later I lost 5 of my pets in one year. Raised them all from birth. They were 12-13 years old. They were all from the same litter except my cat. My son brought him home from a friend as a kitten. I have 4 children but I still loved my pets. Losing them all in a year's time almost destroyed me. A year ago my husband's kidneys failed and now is on dyalises 9 hrs a day. The first week at home we were doing his dyalises our heating unit went out in May!!! My refrigerator died my hot water heater died we had no income coming in and I thought we were going to lose our house. We had one payment left after 36 years paying on it. Thank God we had family members to help. Things are better we still don't really have an income anymore. Just his disability. But we get by with the help of the Lord!!! My pets don't go hungry and neither do we. I am so thankful every day. You give me motivation to get in my craft room to get it cleaned out !!!❤❤❤ Thank you so much. Seeing you do it a little at a time helps my brain a lot. Because it tells me it doesn't have to be done all at once and I think that's what was keeping me from doing it. So thank you!!! You are a blessing!!!!

This might not have been an entirely "maximized" group of days but I think you gravitated to what made the most emotional sense and then was able to have breakthroughs from there, which is really important too. Just think of the next big session tackling this space using what you've learned. Useful things are hard to declutter. Pretty things are hard to declutter. Pretty things with a tangible, even if imagined, use are like decluttering kryptonite lol. You really got into a good groove there though of asking yourself what to keep, and why, and parting with a lot. I'm so glad you had Bonnie and Ali's company and help. Bonnie needed some positive vibes and 'wins' too, and it's nice she could have that time with you and the dogs as well. Keep on keeping on, Team Peeling Away!

I really enjoyed the video, and watched Bonnie’s video today. This may seem like the least germane subject at hand, but I’d like to say how heartening it is to see Colt’s amazing progress! I love to hear you praise him with your sweet, calm voice and to see him becoming more and more affectionate every week! He is adorable with his ears askew, and his water bottle and trash marauding antics made me laugh out loud. You have done miracles with him, just as you have done with your home. Despite health problems and dealing with grief and depression, you take what most people would classify as problems, you conform them as opportunities for self-growth. Your intellect, wonderful sense of humor and storytelling skills are engaging, and it is easy to see how you and Bonnie became friends. With Ali, you three have become the trio of tornadic cleaners! Thanks for being Mira. See you at the next Crafter’s Anonymous meeting!

As long as we don’t give up, we eventually succeed. (I quit smoking 1/15/2007 and have never picked up a cigarette since that day). Yay me. Don’t give up and give in. You can do this, and maintain it. It’ll come. And now you’ve created a great community that you’ve never had before that is all about cleaning and de-cluttering and supporting each other and others in their cleaning and de-cluttering journey.

I moved a year ago and had to go through so much and get rid of so much. I'm finding things even now that I wonder why I kept them. You are an inspiration. I hear tell that decluttering is a life long pursuit. God help me! Haha

Roundabout 27:00 suddenly and unexpected THE one and ONLY water bottle in this video appears. No way Mira 😮. Just ONE water bottle??? I don't know anything about creating scrap 📚 books but I was focused on counting water bottles 🤣. Hmmmm 🤔 looks like the dogs tried to get more information about everything which was suddenly moved from A to B or even C. And as everything was touched by Mira it has to be important for them too ☺️. For sure most interesting things are treats 🐩😍🐕👍. I can't believe I made it that fast and now I had to wait patient for the next episode... Believe me, Mira, your videos are very entertaining and as always time flies by what's always the saddest moment when I need to realize: You just finished Mira's video. You're a really hero to start climbing one mountain after the other. And you know about your limitations when you say "that's a project for future me". Thanks for reminding everyone of us about our individual energy levels. 👍💖🤗 Love and hugs.

It is a mammoth task but it will be so worth it in the end! I'm so glad Bonnie and Ally were able to give you a helping hand with this. I don't know where they get their energy from either. I look forward to seeing the end result of all your hard work.

I like the idea that they were sorting it into different categories for you to go through the box regardless so that you had some organization that you were looking at in the process. You did an awesome job and you just continue to do a great job no matter how you decide to do it, it’s getting done even if it doesn’t look like it’s getting done. Bless your heart.❤🌈🕊🙏🏻💯🥰🥳🥳

This was such an amazing video to see the shifts in your process and difference from start to end in your video. You needed that table/desk time. It was your beginning and you have that proud moment right in the video where you see the shift in your difference of working into the boxes. That is like the “click” moment. Congrats because it is very hard when items are mixed because sorting is one job on its own and then picking what to keep out of sorted piles is another. Your high went from buy (of new items) to bye ( get out of here old style).

I wish I could post pictures here. I sorted my scrapbook paper by colors, themes and projects. For themes, I added the stickers and embellishments so I didn’t have to search two places. If I outgrow the container, I need to purge or do a project.

Mira, you are doing great! I think I'm a little like you. I ordered from scrapbooking kit clubs too way back in the mid 90's I got a lot, and I didn't really do much with them at that time. Then, in around 2009, I was sewing a lot of things. I heard more about scrapbooking & I knew if I got into it i would love it. But I wasn't too sure. But I did love it & I already had those kits that I've been saving for years! So I started with a tag album for my Sister, then it was mini albums for my children & friends & I loved it! So I got more stuff until my basement was full. Well, I got rid of a lot of things & other things as well. Now I've had a couple Surgeries & just didn't want to do any scrapbooking or sewing. But I'm getting back into it now. I also sew on my cards or pages in my albums, so I've combined the two & I love it! I make fabric albums also. It really looks cool! So you Mira kind of got me back into the things I love! But I need to go through my craft room & go through some more. It's not very big. But it gets messy! Thanks so much for inspiration! ♥️☺️🫂🐾🐾🐾🐾🍄🦉🧶🧵🪡🖌🎨🖼🪬🎉

I’ve often told Bonnie she is absolutely a beautiful angel sent from Heaven. She’s got so much patience and a talent for organizing and cleaning. I also clean for people but I don’t think I even match up to Ms Bonnie.

I cannot see any scenario where your room would be done in a day, even having a lot of help and a lot of sorting mind space. Going through scrapbooking supplies is a million little decisions. You are learning so much by just doing, and then reflecting on how it can be done more efficiently at a later time. I’m so proud of you for continuing to do the hard work ❤🎉🎉🎉

Every step of the journey you will find that there may have been an easier or better way of doing something, but in the moment of time doing it, you did what you thought was best for you to do. Don't look at it as an error, you are doing such an amazing job and I commend you for the job you have done so far. 🎉🎉 Looking forward to seeing the next video, the help that they gave you getting the things under some type of control so that you can access things and sort your supplies and ultimately see what you want to keep and donate will make it easier for you. Bonnie and Ali are both wonderful as well. All 3 of you guys are doing amazing work! Keep your chin up!! 👏👏

Mira, another inspiring and uplifting video! You are wonderful. I’m sitting here going through boxes of papers and memorabilia from my parents while watching and recovering from pneumonia. Just a little at a time but I’m starting to see some light. I’ve adopted your “That’s a(n) _______ for future me!” and always have one bin nearby for those items as well as one for donations. Thank you for your humour and enthusiasm and compassion for yourself and others, and for sharing your journey with us. Shout outs to Clay and Colt, the best sidekicks ever!

Haha! Yesterday, I was decluttering my big bookshelf and got stuck on what to do with a few specific books. I literally said to myself, "these books are for future me to deal with" ... as I shoved them into a bin.
