Why is the Banyan tree considered so important?

The Banyan tree is the national tree of India. It is considered sacred because it is very important for the environment and the entire ecosystem. One major benefit is that it has an expansive root system which helps to pump groundwater. But the banyan trees have almost disappeared from India nowadays. Authorities need to give high importance to the Banyan tree and plant it on a massive scale.
Give Me Trees Trust has planted more than 20 million trees all across the country. It was founded by Peepal Baba, who is one of the most renowned environmentalists in the country. Give Me Trees has more than 7000 volunteers throughout the country.

There are many many species of birds, animals and insects that depend on Ficus trees for food, shelter and survival. Please let us each try to plant a ficus tree near our neighborhood. 🙏🏼

Banyan tree is a keystone species which supports many other species of smaller animals. However, owing to this same keystone status and its remarkable ability to radiate its adventitious roots underground to great distances, it is not advisable to plant them 1.) In higher density; and 2.) near residential builidings, roadways or institutions.

It needs proper water till it's around 5-6meters tall..then if possible plant it near any water bodies like any pond or lake,etc at this time you can stop caring it that much..water it for around 2 weeks after placing it near pond and then forget it

Banyan as well as peep al are both not auspicious trees clearly. Both are related to occult as per religious and cultural beliefs. These are just important trees and not related to practical auspicious life.
