The Black Book Interactive Project (BBIP) - part of the University of Kansas's History of Black Writing project (HBW) - is a digital archive of over 7,000 black-authored texts. It launched in 2010 and has received funding from KU, the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS), and the Andrew Mellon Foundation. PhiloLogic, a searchable online metadata platform from the Textual Optics Lab at the University of Chicago, powers BBIP's HBW Novel Corpus.
Sara Cohen is the Editorial Director for the University of Michigan Press, and previously served as the Senior Editor for the University of Michigan Press, as well as an Editor with temple University Press. She received her Doctorate of Philosophy with a focus in English at the University of Minnesota in 2011, and her Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Rutgers College in 2004. At the University of Michigan, she handles titles in American Studies, Disability Studies, Class Studies, Media Studies, and Music.
Allison Levy is Director of Brown University Digital Publications, a program of distinction based in the University Library’s renowned Center for Digital Scholarship. An art historian educated at Bryn Mawr College, Levy has held teaching appointments at University College London, Wheaton College, and Tulane University; at Brown, she holds the appointment of Adjunct Assistant Professor in Italian Studies. In her role as director, Levy brings together key organizational, academic, and technological resources to support new forms of faculty-authored scholarship, resulting in pathbreaking, award-winning publications.
