Wow, well explained. You can be a teacher/professor. Thank you very much.

I'm like you- I like the idea of being able to help others in this way. I'll probably be doing some more research. Thank you.

What if you invest in two different ISA accounts? Are we responsible in checking if we don't go over 20000 limit? Example Vanguard ISA with a ISA account in peer to peer lending.

My question too

You can only pay into 1 isa in any tax year. You can have multiple isa’s from previous years effectively but only pay into 1
@yugiohoricacollection5 жыл бұрын
@@jaywarriuk yh but it doesn't disallow you to do two though, so possibly it will be on us to keep track
@navjotsingh22513 жыл бұрын
@@yugiohoricacollection you can for example have one stocks and shares isa with one cash isa and pay into both within the same year but you can't go over the £20,000 limit. But you can't have two stocks and shares isa and pay into them in the same year. Yes, you are responsible to make sure you do not go over this limit. Just calculate how much you are putting into each account. Hope this helps.

I've had bad experiences with P2P recently. Lots of defaults, liquidity is increasingly a big problem and returns are nowhere near what they are marketed as. If borrowers are having to borrow at these kinds of interest rates in this low interest rate environment there is a reason. The higher the rate, the higher the risk, there is no free lunch! To me it feels like higher real risk than stocks but with lower returns. I'll be steering clear of P2P going forward. Just speaking from my own personal experiences.

Benjamin there is no free lunch and the biggest risk with P2P is that it is potentially less liquid than a bank account. If someone causes a big player in the P2P to get a cold, then lots of people could try to withdraw at once, and you might have to wait to get your money back, or even (very unlikely) lose it altogether. If you have experienced higher failures (lower experienced returns) than expected - well let the buyer beware of marketing headlines. But 3 percent over a year for P2P lending to private individuals after all fees, losses etc is likely, and is better than 0.9 percent in a bank. Of course, whether 2 percent is worth the liquidity risk (or theoretical total loss). I would guess Zopa is worth it if you have around £20,000 you need to keep in safe quasi cash cos that makes you £200 a year extra interest. Much less - is it worth the effort?

Not worth it in my opinion. I think there are other investments that are more volatile, but that pose less real long term risk.

Love you Jennifer. You've single handedly changed my way of thinking about money. Question for you though...Is Etsy still worthwhile? Watched your Etsy set up vid but noticed that you no longer sell printables. Is that because you weren't making enough profit or something else?
@JenniferAMThomson5 жыл бұрын
Still sell some printables, but really only my Spreadsheet products from Etsy. I think it is great when you need someone to handle all the direct to customer for you - still really enjoy using it :O)

Apparently, Ratesetter is in the process of being acquired by Metro Bank, which is currently trading at under 100 from highs of over 4,000 - Is there potential here for dramatic recovery?

So if I got a vanguard100 and do a peer to peer do I still have to pay tax ?
@LevelUP845 жыл бұрын
Not if its in an ISA no. ISA is tax free.
@stuhallsworth92235 жыл бұрын
Thanks redrum but I thought you could only have one investment isa and one cash isa sorry this is all new to me .
@mattjames885 жыл бұрын
Stu Hallsworth this is called an innovative finance ISA. In each financial year you can pay into a cash isa, stocks and shares isa, innovate finance isa and a lifetime isa. The maximum you can pay into all of them is £20,000 (£4,000 maximum into the LISA if you’re less than 50 years of age) junior ISAs are different as it’s for someone else
