@TomNovoАй бұрын

Thing is, the song is not talking about you guys and people like you taking the US for granted. It's talking about racist white people who talk shit about how Mexicans don't belong in the US regardless of whether they were already there when those states were part of Mexico or they're just visiting as tourists because, just like you did when you listened to the English verse, they default to thinking all Mexicans want to be in the US and they all go as illegals and then treat illegals like a plague that drain resources despite their hard work. A Mexican song written by a Mexican band and released in Mexico is hardly an example of how great American Freedom of Speech is. I respect your thought processes and l enjoy your discussions even when I disagree with some of the stuff you say, but you really missed the mark on this one by a lot.

Ufff!!! So interesting your analysis of the song, specially for me as a Mexican American born and raised in México. My dad was American and my mom was Mexican; my dad passed away when I was a kid and basically my mom by herself took ahead my brother and I to be good citizens despite many complicated facts and situations. As a kid i suffered discrimination by some of my classmates in elementary school, but little by little my brother and I overcome it until basically disappeared. Ignorance, prejudgment and a bit of bad will can turn everything into a big problem, but in the other hand to be open and respectful of the different cultures, races and ideas, emphasizing the common desire to leave in peace, having a fair access to health, food, education and employment can makes us closer, and find in the differences an attractive and enriching experience. P.S. I love your reactions and follow them; a big hug from México, Tom Davis Tenorio

The Mexican President represented in cartoon form in the beginning of the music video is Vicente Fox, who was President in the early 2000s. Molotov is a very political band, kind of Mexico's answer to Rage Against The Machine, only Molotov relies too much on shock value and low-brow humor. I come from a mixed ethnic background too; my dad's ethnic breakdown was the entire United Kingdom(England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales), and the Nordic Viking countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark), while mom's family was Spanish, Mexican, and Native American. My brother, who's much darker-skinned than I am, and I got asked for our papers/green cards, etc. a few times by the border patrol, but we kind of laughed it off, since we are U.S. born and not in danger of deportation or anything. But racism definitely lingers, particularly where we are (Southern California).
@RavenPoe1127 күн бұрын
It's not about getting back their territory. The point was that mexicans suffer racism and are looked down upon in what historically were their lands (just because doesn't not belong to them anymore doesn't justify racism). It's a deep subject that deserves more than a simple comment in a video.

But my point is to the Mexicans who need to emigrated any way too go there is full of stones to go there as many other people from many countries not even out thigh pass and where neighbors many americans have very unfortunately idea about mexicans who we are because you were raised as a superior level from us when you talk about Mexican people you're not talking about all mexicans just the immigrants and they lost some part of them when the make the choice to cross up there. And you're not thinking they sacrifice they're freedom and part of they're Hart to give they're family a better life the majority dreams to get old and get their part with their family done and have the opportunity to feel again that feeling once they experimented when they were young and have as a payback the rigth to die in the land they were born and most at they're life no able to enjoy and beside most of them give to you they best and productive time of live even that they work every day feeling aut of the place always feeling fear to get kicked out and all the time invested in the basket with no any rigth to argument

It's true in Mexico we have a lot of racism is so sad. Even white mexican people suffer bullying because they have blond hair blue eyes. My mom is. Half german and half mexican and kids used to make jokes about it and about her hair and skin. The world is crazy 😢

23:01 There are bunch of differences between the reasons why Mexicans and all immigrants from different countries go USA and "ex-pats" go live in Mexico Illegally, all the Latin Americans are hard workers, they work in the agro-industry, construction, housekeeping, etc in the US. However, the gringo immigrants are not working for Mexican companies, they are working remotely for US companies, they are not paying taxes and of course earning in dollars and paying in Pesos, I don't see a hint of similarities.

Thanks Don, it's so nice to hear from your perspective. It feels like you have a great awareness and high general education that extends even outside the states and it is always interesting to listen to you for the very reason that you have a broad perspective and logical and healthy thinking. Hope to hear more of your discussions ☮️🌺

Here in Mexico people is not racist at all I can say for sure that 99.99% of the people don't care about skin color... We have another issue, there are a lot of classism (the richer you are, the better). I find very curious that mexicans are racist towards you. Probably these mexican racists are born on US and learned that over there... Oh, and the word "negro" here in Mexico is not an insult, is just a nickname, we use A LOT of nicknames and no one gets offended. "hey, negro, let's go to a party".

10:30 basically, even though there was not a war with the US those northern territories (tejas, california, rio colorado) would have declared independency, texas had already done it through war (mexican-texan war) Between the quasi-nationalist movements that have risen in those territories and the virtual abandonment by the centralist mexican government, they were unattainable, and guess what? same shit happen in the south, Mexico also owned all the way to panama and colombia, lol but the same issues from the north were present here. I am actually amazed that the country has not fractured even more, right now the north (tamaulipas, nuevo leon, chihuahua etc) are abandoned and taxes are way high because is the highest pib region, adding narcos and outlawness to the formula will make it unviable in the future, sooo history repeats itself i guess?? Imagine a civil war right accross your front yard

Loved the discussion on heritage. Molotov has some great songs that you would probably enjoy. Like Voto Latino, or Gimme Tha Power from 1997, both still extremely topical. Also highly recommend Control Machete for another good Mexican hip hop band. Si Senor or Pesada are great picks.
