Bring him back. Love his take on some of the camera work and the face he pulled when he heard he also makes his own beats. That boy has no business being that multi talented but we all love him for it!

This is what I have read about the place where they are filming. This is the flat where Ren and Romain used to live and they have filmed other videos here as well. For example, the Roof top is the same as in Bongo Bong. I guess anything could be going on in that area and people would shake their heads thinking Ah, it’s nothing to worry about, it’s only Ren. 😂

The crescendo at the end of Hi Ren represents the eternal dance and that dance is chaotic. It's only fair that the camerawork reflects that chaos. I'm with Ren and Sam on this one.

I thought City Hollow had some very good insights and even though I'm a hardcore Ren/Samuel Fan, I wasn't put off by a differing opinion and I think he has some valid points! I'm looking forward to seeing BP and City do more videos together! Thanks for the amazing content as always BP!

❤️❤️❤️Definitely have him back! He seemed to really take this review seriously. Furthermore, I like the different things that he pointed out. Ren, is such a creative genius. There’s so much more for him to experience and react too. Ren reminds me very much of David Bowie in the fact that he is truly a genius. There is no doubt in my mind. The fact that Ren isn’t afraid to change things up. He creates what makes him happy; you either get it or you don’t. Love him.❤❤❤❤❤✌️😉

As a longtime poet who has also dealt with chronic Lyme disease, I really appreciate the terrific poetry and psychological insight of Hi Ren, along with his expert guitar playing and his sense of humor. And I like the way Ren shows that one has to work through one's struggle to reach a meaningful resolution, which he talks out at the end. Near the end, where your guest noticed the flashing lights were back, I took that as Ren being able now, after having worked through the struggle, to do his operatic singing even through the chaos of the flashing lights (whereas in the beginning the lights were still) and even being able for a moment to stand on one foot, which I haven't seen anyone mention yet.
@mattgreen7692 Жыл бұрын
I always interpreted the flashing lights during the last "movement" (where he's vocalizing after "we're two sides of the same coin") as him being able to balance the darkness and light to create his art. After all, Ren wouldn't have such meaningful music if he didn't have that suffering to share with us to connect to. Look at how he turned the most traumatic experiences of his life into something that we all can feel in the deepest parts of our soul. Like 'For Joe'
@eliotkatz6538 Жыл бұрын
@@mattgreen7692 I think we're saying pretty much the same thing in different ways. I do hope, for both his art and his life, that his ability to play through the flickering lights is also a sign that his suffering has at least lessened somewhat (which I think is illustrated by his ability to stand for a moment on one leg), since I've been in that place from Lyme disease where it was difficult to be a writer (I have about a dozen authored and edited books out) or to do what most people would consider living. Thankfully, I'm feeling much better now, after persisting through too many failed medical appointments in order to find a few Lyme-expert doctors and herbalists (members of a U.S.-based Lyme-specific medical group called ILADS) who could finally help me with a mix of traditional and alternative treatments, which I hope has been the case for Ren, too.

I love it when people give their honest opinion. Just the fact that the camera angles bothered him and he felt ok giving that opinion. It lets you know the rest of the review was authentic. If you watch a video review and they say everything is great you are left wondering if that was an authentic opinion or was it the reactor telling the subscribers what they THINK we want to hear.

It's nice to have a person have a critique when they see what they would've liked to be better and not just blindly praise. I personally think though that the close up shots work because at the end his speaking to "you" in the hope section and for example the words "I stand here besides you today" have better impact when he says it close up to the viewer. Only thing that slightly bothers me is when the handheld camera comes in, the lip sync is tiny bit off since the video part couldn't have been recorded in the same shot than the actual performance. Not a big thing, but I always notice that :)

I never see anyone bring up the rogue light flicker at 10:40 right before the darkness takes over. It may have been an accidental flicker, but for me the timing is significant, it's as if it's an indicator of the light side losing control. Before this the light only flickers when 'bad Ren' is talking. But this flicker is out of place, it's there while 'good Ren' is talking, and it makes the dark takeover so much more epic for me.

I'm addicted to Hi Ren reactions. In the beginning when Ren is playing the guitar when he leans back and looks at the camera I feel like that is 'evil' Ren peeked out, then he goes into the 'yodeling'. The yodeling is one of his coping skills.

I love how he pointed out the camera change in HiRen. I never really had anything to say about it but I also like his take. And I agree a bit. I think the tripod gives it more of a theatrical performance feel. Like thats what we would see if we were in an audience. Ive seen a live version of him doing HiRen and it does hit different just watching him with your own perspective look. Very interesting and unique take on that video though.

I am once again recommending the artist Will Wood. Another artist in that "weird" category, a little jazzy, a little showtune-y, and generally just covers a wide range of sounds. A good spread from him would probably be "The First Step," "Chemical Overreaction / Compound Fracture," "BlackBoxWarrior - OKULTRA," and "Tomcat Disposables"

I get what he's saying about preferring the steady shot but it's 'the eternal dance' shown even before it is spoken. Just as the spoken word is shot as the swing of the pendulum swing. There isn't a camera shot or note or shadow that is unaccounted for. Everything you see and hear is an actor in this artwork. Every thing.
