Electric Light Orchestra was without a doubt, one of our very best British bands ever. Was FORTUNATE enough to experience them in concert during this era, they BLEW ME AWAY and their light show lived up to their name IN A BIG WAY!!! They were some of the first to use laser lights at their concerts. Afterwards I was fortunate to meet the dummer Bev Bevan (former THE MOVE ) and the very kind and generous piano and keyboard player Richard Tandy, WHAT A NIGHT ❤ ❤ ❤ LOVE, HUGS, PEACE, GOD BLESS & STAY SAFE ❤ ❤ ❤

We do indeed and as tastes are different I would say we have something to cater for everyone. I LOVE all kinds of music from classical music, over rock, ska, punk to pop. Every kind of music has it´s top bands. I was young in the sixties, so most of my favourite bands are from that era, and both Jeff Lynne and Bev Bevan came from the sixties band called THE MOVE, where also Roy Wood came from but he left ELO, very early on to create his own band The Wizzards.. Many FABULOUS British bands all with their special talents . @@deanosaur808

@@deanosaur808 There definitely are many British bands that are absolutely perfect. Jeff Lynne's ELO is just one of them. I disagree with "some a lot better", as it is impossible to be better than perfect. You may like some of the other perfect bands more, but that doesn't make them "better". Some - even Jeff Lynne himself, modest as he is - might say that the Beatles are on a level of their own, but I disagree - just try to listen to Jeff's version of _Day Tripper_ from 1974 and compare it with the original. The ELO version - IMO - is a big improvement.

ELO is from England. This is a jam! But this band had tremendous success with so many songs - "Mr. Blue Sky", "Telephone Line", "Evil Woman", "Turn to Stone", "Don't Bring Me Down", "Living Thing"...and more. Their hits never stop! This band found a style of their own. During this era of music the artists still made their OWN music without feeling the pressure of the record companies telling them how to make them and what was a hit. So many artists took liberties with their music back then and the risks often times paid off.

Electric Light Orchestra’s concerts were so much fun. Their light show was pretty impressive for 1977-78. Their use of orchestral instruments sparked the imaginations of many a band and orchestra student. Suddenly Classical instruments had a place in modern music. It was a great time.

My favorite band of all-time. It is now called Jeff Lynne's (lead singer) ELO. Jeff writes, arranges, produces, and plays almost all the instruments on the recordings. He is the only regularly appearing original member left. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017. He is a musical genius who has worked with some of the all-time greats of Rock and Roll as producer, bandmate, etc. John Lennon once said ELO is what the Beatles may have turned into if they had stayed together longer. They are headed out on their final tour later this year. I've already got tix :) This band is so amazing live. Some other songs I recommend: Turn to Stone, Rockaria, Showdown, Fire on High, Roll Over Beethoven (cover of Chuck Berry's song), Tightrope and Mr. Blue Sky. I could go on and on. If nothing else, you'll greatly increase your playlist ;) Enjoy!

You have a good excuse for not knowing this song if you're American. "Last Train to London" wasn't popular in America compared to the UK. It spent a few weeks on the Hot 100 in early 1980, peaking at 39 a bit over 44 years ago. ELO fans in the states should know it from the 1979 album "Discovery", which was certified double platinum in America by 1997.

Jeff Lynne, one of the greatest melodists in Rock history. This hit came off their Disco era album ''Discovery''. Wink, wink! Do you get it? Off the same album, came the other hits: Shine a little love, The Diary of Horace Wimp, Confusion and Don't bring me down. But please do yourself a favor and go back further into their discography to unearth their greatest gems: Showdown, Can't get it out of my head, Boy Blue, Evil woman, Strange Magic, Turn to stone, Sweet talkin' woman, Mr. Blue Sky, Tightrope, Telephone line, Rockaria!, Do ya, Livin' thing. I will be surprised if most or all of them do not make your playlist. And then maybe, you will get an inkling why we, of the older generations, feel today's music scene so dismal and barren, melodywise... Enjoy your time with ELO!

Great band with a whole string of bangers. Jeff Lynne is the guy who headed up the band. He was a big fan of the beatles and tried to emulate some of their stuff while staying in his one lane. He was also in the Traveling Wilburys with a whole slew of other famous musicians ( Tom Petty, George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan) He is just an amazing song writer. Other songs to try, The Jungle, Mr Blue Skies (Weezer are huge fans and covered this on their teal album), Don't Bring Me Down. Turn to Stone, Living Thing, Sweet Talkin Woman, the list goes on and on.

If you have never seen Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty and Prince do a version of George Harrison's While My Guitar Gently Weeps at his Rock & Roll HOF induction, you must check it out! Epic.

You have reacted to my two favourite bands.... The Electric Light Orchestra my lifetime favourites since the mid 70s and still plus Nightwish with Floor Jansen who I first heard 2 years ago at the age of 56. The Electric Light Orchestra like Nightwish is a deep, deep rabbit hole well worth investigating. ELO's "Last Train to London" is from the Discovery album that many call Disco Very due to a number of the album tracks have a disco vibe unlike most of their previous material that blended orchestral components with rock and opera. A unique sounding band that has transcended the ages. 🙏😊👍❤️

Lol, those cut off tee shirts, with the exposed midriff. That is what we wore in football pads to keep the pads from rubbing on your shoulders. I think thats where that started, 😂

those odd keyboards were progressive jazz oriented, where they tend to change up rhythmic patterns that you are used to in other more mainstream genres. jeff lynne is the singer, composer and primary song writer. ELO is his band. he is a legend amongst the industry legends and one of the greatest writers of intriquite pop/rock music that the world has ever known. you are witnessing something far more important than your first impressions suggest

I miss these days. I'm a Disco baby so to speak. I was like 7-10 years old practicing dance moves with my Aunt's so they could move it on the dance floor❤😂. Studio 54 Days..❤ js

If you love this type of Progressive type of music, you should definitely check out yes, roundabout. Especially you Dan being that you’re getting into keyboards, one of the best keyboard performances, in all of rock music.
