When Rob listened to Keith and he said, "Stop talking, girl." I thought, yah, I hear that now, but I never heard it that way before! But now I realize that I only ever heard Alison sing it! They both sing it so differently that you can hear Keith say be quiet, but Alison's doesn't have that suggestion at all! Her's is the, I can see how much love there is without a word spoken! This is my wife and my wedding song. We chose it because we spent some time in a long distant relationship and spent many nights on the phone with neither one of us talkings but enjoying each others company. Fast forward almost 10 years and my wife suffers a massive stroke and our world got turned completely upside-down. She had to learn how to walk and talk again. The silence became deafening. While traveling on my first of many 3 hour trips across Iowa and Nebraska to her rehab to see her, the song came on the radio. And I pulled over and wept. This song means so much more to me today than it did on our wedding day. Now we have our 5 year old son who is just starting to learn how to talk. He was diagnosed with childhood apraxia. This song just keeps becoming more important to me as I get older. Thank you for the wonderful reaction!

Just as an amusing story, country singer Mark Peterson sang this at a anniversary concert for a local radio station, years ago. He changed the last "when you say nothing at all" to "when you wear nothing at all." A few years later, he was at our state fair, and let the audience sing the end... Enough of us had been at the first concert, that we sang his version back at him, and he cracked up on stage, not expecting it!

I never grow tired of listening to Alison krauss. Like Dolly she has her own very unique sound. She doesn't have to be loud and in your face and show off fancy vocals like some singers who are good but can sometimes just be overwhelming. I enjoy listening to Whitney Houston for example but Alison's vocals on any song or Dolly's version of I Will always Love you as equally impressive and melodically beautiful. We're so blessed to have so many different types of music we can listen to now and don't even have to wait for it to come on the radio or until we get home so we can play it.

Alison is a legend. She used to play all over Central Illinois before she went to Nashville. I believe she was the Illinois fiddle champion at one time. I was fortunate enough to see her live a month or so back singing and playing with Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin lead singer). It was a great show!!!
