Back in the mid 80's, we would hold military exercises in Dare County, NC, and stayed in Hotel Manteo off the Outer Banks. Andy owned a beautiful home that we drove past daily and every morning he would be sitting on his porch and stand up waving to us as we headed out to the range. A few of us were in the local Piggly Wiggly one evening after missions and Mr Griffith was there and walked over to us and shook all our hands. We talked for a good 20 minutes with him. He was one of the nicest gentlemen I have ever met even to this day. ❤️

One of the last things that Andy was filmed in, this was kind of prophetic in a sense...since he died shortly thereafter. Showing him dressing up all in white, then sitting on a bench in an empty beach at sunset...almost signatory of sittin' in Heaven waitin' on his Woman. That ending brings tears to my eyes every time. "Honey, take your time. Cause I don't mind. Waitin' on a Woman" ...and then you look at the bench where he was talkin' to Brad...and Brad's the only one sittin' there.

This song has Brad describing something about what women are like. The end, with Andy Griffith dressed all in white, waiting on a heavenly bench for his wife, is really touching. If this song doesn't make you as a guy appreciate your wife a little more, there's something wrong with you. The flip side is Brad singing about what men are like, very funny --"I'm Still a Guy". Yeah, Brad is a REALLY good guitarist. If you like that stuff, and who doesn't, check out Brad Paisley and fellow Australian Keith Urban having serious guitar fun on their official music video "Start a Band". (Trivia: Oh, and little Opie? He's Ron Howard, who grew up to be Richie Cunningham on the TV show "Happy Days", starring alongside Henry Winkler as Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli. Then Ron grew some more and has had a looong career acting, producing, directing some very successful movies. He produced and directed Apollo 13 and The De Vinci Code, just to name two.)

Yes that was Andy Griffith. From what I read, Andy had some money issues later in his life, and Brad actually asked him to be in the video which helped him get a stream of income from the royalties too. And yes, the Andy Griffith Show had Opie, played by little Ronnie Howard, who went on to star as Richie Cunningham in Happy Days and then went on to be one of the biggest tv and movie producers in the world. Ron's daughter, Bryce Dallas Howard is also an actress, playing Hilly in the Help among her many movies roles.

Brad Paisley, a native of Glen Dale West Virginia, a small town just south of Wheeling on the Ohio River. By his teenage years, he had started a band, and very quickly they became the House Band for the Wheeling Opry. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, who Brad wrote "He Didn't Have to Be" to honor, it's a great track. I think "Mud on the Tires" was his debut single, and it's a great album. He plays the guitar like a mad man. I don't think it's possible for him to release a bad song. " Whiskey Lullaby", a duet with Allison Krause will rip your heart out. "Remind Me", a duet with Carrie Underwood, will definitely make you want to hold your wife tight. "I'm Still a Guy", "Celebrity", "I'm Gonna Miss Her", and "Ticks" will make you laugh out loud. This is definitely a rabbit hole worth diving into head first. Yes, that was Andy Griffith, and the little boy you referred to, Opie, is Ron Howard, who grew up to be one of the greatest directors of our time. He also starred in Happy Days alongside Henry Winkler.
