I was already a hip hop head by the time Linkin Park came around, I couldnt understand why they weren't appreciated by other hip hop fans at the time. Hybrid Theory is still stupidly good, i just saw it as loud, angry bars on bars.

@@mamakat114 when LP sang 1 more light for the Jimmy Kinkel show just a couple days after Chris, it makes me cry. It’s beautiful but you can hear in Chester’s voice how broken he feels and trying not to cry. Shinoda did an interview and said at sound check, Chester couldn’t get through it. Even when he got through it for the performance, there are a couple of lines he can’t finish.

Stop. You’re only giving credence to Chester’s bullshit. Chester had a wife and kids and 1) not only made a bigger deal about “his friend” Chris (they weren’t that close) than his own family but 2) made Chris’ day about himself. So, nah, fuck Chester.

It’s about someone who feels like their efforts have been wasted and they're experiencing pain, frustration, and loss. The song is written from the perspective of someone who's processing these feelings and may have helped others do the same. So ur interpretation is exactly right

This song was written by Mike Shinoda and the music video was directed by Joe Hahn. Chester didn't hate this song but preferred heavier songs especially at that time. Chester loved singing this song with the fans during every concert. He loved just having the fans sing with him no matter what song it was. Chester was his happiest when he was with the fans, on stage, in the studio recording songs, and with his family and friends. Chester loved his 6 children. Mike Shinoda founder, rapper, co-vocalist, co-songwriter, co-rhythm guitarist, co-graphic designer, pianist/keyboardist, and producer Brad Delson lead guitarist, right hand man for Mike in studio, and co-background vocalist Rob Bourdon drummer and co-background vocalist (in studio only) Joe Hahn music video director, co-graphic designer, co-background vocalist, and turntableist (dj) Dave (Phoenix) Farrell bassist, cello and violin player, in band philosopher, and co-background vocalist Chester Bennington screamer, human sound effects machine, co-rhythm guitarist, co-songwriter, and co-vocalist

@@Meepie_Playz Mike wrote this song about their record label. During the recording of Hybrid Theory the label kept trying to change the songs and the members in the band. At one point the label sat Chester down and offered him his own band since they really only wanted Chester. Chester obviously said no and that he was going to stay with his bandmates.

@@AncientActivist Yes, Mike wrote about his life. He also had a difficult childhood, not as difficult as Chester's, but still. As a half-Japanese, he never really felt like he belonged or could fit in with the different ethnic groups at school or in his neighborhood. But it should be mentioned that he also wrote about his friends, acquaintances and world events. By the 2nd album, Mike knew Chester so well through conversations that he could write about Chester and Chester was excited and agreed. But mostly they also wrote lyrics together, that's why it was the dynamic duo...in the studio and on stage. Sorry for my bad English.

Oh man always when I hear this song and think of Chester, that is not alive anymore, I just have to cry. He did commit suicide in 2017 and the thing is, Linkin Parks last Album "One more light" was also 2017 and there is one song on it called "Heavy" And I think Chester wanted to know that all his fans knew that he cannot handle it anymore before he did kill himself. He is such an amazing singer with a very tragic background Story. I don't want to imagine, how the rest of the band felt after they heard the news, especially Mike Shinoda which was his best friend too. I have all 7 full time albums of Linkin Park and I treasure them. Linkin Park was and is one of the best bands ever. It is hard to believe that it is already 7 years ago. I remember that day where I heard the news of his passing and it was so shocking. It was a very sad day for me. It was a Friday but that weekend was not good. RIP Chester Bennington. You really hit the meaning as the band want you to, Mike has said in many interviews that their lyrics are for each person to interpret into what makes the song special to you. He has said also that when they wrote a lot of the songs Mike kept what Chester has been through in his past in mind because if Chester can relate he will sing the hell out of it with that raw emotion he has. Everything Chester sang gave me goodebumps because the pain is real the emotion was real. His screams always hit like nothing I have ever heard before.

Your realization of the Korean blankets' meaning that came after your mom's passing... is a big part of why I think Ren is often so profound. Death, and being close to death, can have a profound understanding under into what's important. For me, it was the countless waiting rooms at the hospitals that cared for my stepfather. A chat here or there with other people waiting on news of their loved ones... it's easy to realize as a teenager that health (and the loss of it) is the great equalizer. When you know there's no way to buy yourself more time, you realize how little the "things" you want/need matter. "In the end, it doesn't even matter." There's nothing you can take with you. Most things that you leave behind don't matter. Every now and again, we're lucky and an artist leaves behind a body of work that does matter. RIP Chester. And thank the heavens that Ren is still here and sharing his work.

It's been 7 years, and it still hurts. I still cry on this day, there's still a part of me that wants to kick and scream and say it isn't fair and that I want him back. And I didn't even really know him. I cannot imagine what it's like for those who were closest to him. Regarding the song, I think the lyrics were mostly or completely written by Mike, if I recall correctly. To me, it's about putting time, energy, effort, and love into a relationship that was doomed to fail for.whatever reason. Maybe you kept pouring into it because you really wanted it, and that's when the "waste" is worth it still. But maybe it was "sunk cost fallacy" that kept you investing in something that was failing. I think the lyrics definitely make you think about the worth of what you put your limited time here on Earth into. Thank you for acknowledging today, it matters to us fans still hurting ❤

Like a lot of fans, I was devastated when I heard about his death. The pain was exacerbated when I found out _how_ he died. He was one of the absolute greatest singers and all around performers of the modern age. I wish his pain had been seen and that the steps necessary to get him the help he so desperately needed had been taken. If you listen to Linkin Park's music, all of their songs are about pain and desperation. He was telling his story in every song they recorded, and pleading for help through their music. It's heart wrenching to see that now, and think about how you didn't realize it when he was with us. En Pace Requiescat Chester. If anyone ever deserved a peaceful rest, it's you. I hope you have finally found the peace that so tragically eluded you in life.

It just hit me... all these Egyptian statues... all that stuff the people cherished a thousand years ago... those statues coulcn't save them.. they are stone, they will crumble. "In the end, they didn't even matter".. all that really matters is our relationship with God number one.. our family, relationships.. trying to walk with Him and do what He wants.. but the stuff.. it all flitters away.. I don't know if that's why they put those Egyptian statues in this video, but bouncing off what you said, and having watched this video countless times, that is what popped in my mind tonight. Chester is a legend.... may he RIP....

Yup 7 years, 2017 was also the year my mom passed, (GOD REST HER SOUL) makes the math hard to mess up for me on that one.. lol. Mom loved a full life, she died young, 59, but her youngest son, myself, was 40, her grandkids were almost adults, she had been fighting glioblastoma for 4 years, and dealt with chronic pain for 3 plus decades before.. but yo.. for real, there was a 6 month period where I felt BAD FOR ENJOYING LINKIN PARK after Chester passed, it felt like "WOW... So for the last 20 years I've been ENJOYING this man's deepest darkest demons, he's been publicly crying out for help, and all we did was smile, bob our heads and sing along" then I realized that for him the music was probably the best way for him to deal w those demons, and HE WANTED US TO KNOW "YOU'RE NOT ALONE, THE REST OF US DEALING WITH MENTAL ILLNESS CAN FIND COMFORT IN KNOWING THAT EVEN THE GREATEST AND MOST FAMOUS PEOPLE, EVEN PEOPLE MAKING MILLIONS DOING WHAT THEY LOVE ALSO DEAL WITH MENTAL ILLNESS, SO YOU'RE NOT BROKEN, YOU'RE NOT ODD, DON'T BE AFRAID TO EXPRESS YOUR TRUE FEELINGS!!!!!" LOVE IT!!!! HE'S AN INSPIRATION TO ME, AND MILLIONS OF OTHERS....

Saw them at Ozzfest in Denver (!!) in 2002. With Deftones, Disturbed, Slipknot, Manson (incredible show) and Sabbath. Amazing concert. ❤❤❤

Still hurts to listen to this , in the end, he could no longer cope with the madness of abuse he suffered. I've often screamed along and cried to this song, trying to come to terms with the child abuse I suffered. I understand why he took his own life as its a life sentence we have to live with . I love life and make the most of it , but have no fear of death as the dark thoughts will be over for good 💜

I still have my Korean blanket from when I was stationed there in 1990. It is the most comfortable, warm blanket I have. We've been through a lot together

This hurts so much! And this song cemented Linkin Park for me! I had heard and seen the vid for One Step Closer and I really liked it but this one was the baseball bat to the skull for me! Too damned good and Chester and Mike's passing the singing between them was just so freaking amazing!

Seeing Chester on any video still puts a tear in my eyes. And some much footage of him when he had happy moments and his smile would just shine makes me so sad to know that in all his happy moments his sorrow was still so heavy.
