The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

You said it !!! The garbage today !!! Those ugly acts on SNL and, ugh,..... rap !!! The good stuff ended after the Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Mamas & Papas, 5th Dimension... No one carried that torch....Now it's dumber than even doo wop was !

One of the great love songs of the World War II years, sung by one of best female vocalists of that same era. I really like the string section in this arrangement of the Oscar winning Rodgers & Hammerstein song from the movie _State Fair,_ and Peggy Lee's understated vocals are an interesting -- and effective -- departure from her more typical dynamic delivery. Good stuff!

Having listened to a whole bunch of performances of this song by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Judy Collins, Bryn Terfel (the opera singer), and Barbara Cook, I must say that Peggy Lee's singing and interpretation is the best I've heard.

I'm as restless as a willow in a windstorm I'm as jumpy as a puppet on a string I'd say that I had spring fever But I know it isn't spring I am starry eyed and vaguely discontented Like a nightingale without a song to sing O why should I have spring fever When it isn't even spring I keep wishing I were somewhere else Walking down a strange new street Hearing words that I've had never heard From a man I've yet to meet I'm as busy as a spider spinning daydreams I'm as giddy as a baby on a swing I haven't seen a crocus or a rosebud Or a Robin on the wing But I feel so gay in a melancholy way That it might as well be spring It might as well be Spring
