Maybe this is actually a super meta level commentary from Pekin of Dreams on how people can still manage to find meaning out of nothing. In the grander scheme of things, isn't life itself meaningless and full of nonsense? We have no proof of God, we have no proof of destiny, or of fate, and noone can truly decide what our greater 'purpose' even is. This then leads us to the theoretical conclusion that the meaning of life can be whatever you think it is for yourself; the same way of thinking can be applied to what Pekin of Dreams has said about his philosophies. Personally, the way I see it, such possibilities are inexplicably beautiful. Thank you, Pekin of Dreams. Your genius strikes us yet again.

@@wakemanz1 Yeah I was pretty unclear but I also wasn't really trying to make an argument or debate anyone The absurd thing I was referring to was the idea that the objective meaning of life is subjectively determined by the individual. The conclusion isn't that 'meaning isn't objective,' but rather that 'we can to choose what is meaningful.' I mean you could say that your life means something to you, but that's using the word with a different definition--aka it's a different word--so there's no point in comparing that sense of meaning with an objective concept like the meaning of life. A lot of the dumb philosophy I encountered was people taking obviously subjective things and paradoxically trying to say that they were objective, or vice versa. Well okay 90+% of the dumb stuff was pointless definition debates but the obejctive/subjective confusion was most of the remainder.

When we talk about meaning in relation to our lives we are describing the idea of why we live. The idea that we can’t know if there’s any meaning but that we as individuals still choose to live with meaning is called absurdism because it’s absurd, but it’s philosophy. its not about what is, it’s about what we ought do. This is an extremely well known philosophical idea that’s been written about studied for decades and you think you can write it off by playing word games? You think you’re like actually being logical by using tautology but you’re actually being incredibly obtuse. I’ve never been in a philosophy class but you literally sound like the people you’re describing, do you really think an appropriate response to OP is that he’s being illogical and doesn’t know how objective and subjective works just like all these people you knew?If that’s what you really believe is what’s happening I have to be completely honest and say you’re not as smart as you think you are, you look like a total douche when that’s how you react to a comment like that. Edit: also obviously OP saying that a person should find their own meaning in life doesn’t mean that OP is making an objective statement about the meaning of life other than we can’t know if there is one objectively.
