2:39 Actually in the current version of 1.17 lighting will strike the lowest lightning rod more. It just has to be not covered by any blocks on top. This might change in future version though

​@@Munandarif she just needed to install the rod on a material that isn't wood or wool (anything that can't catch on fire basically), and it would divert lightning to hit the rod instead. Basically if you have a wool structure, you can place a stone block on the struct and then the rod on the stone block. Considering Pekocastle is large, she would probably need about 4-6 lightning rods since 1 rod only covers an area of 32 x 4 x 32 blocks

@@trungvqc3436 for some reason in Java its 32 x 4 x 32, but on bedrock it'd 64 x 64 x 64... so I honestly have no idea... But I assume you're supposed to put the rod on the highest point of your structure, so the height wouldn't necessarily matter, or you can put the rod 3 blocks below the highest point of your structure.

I saw how the lightning rods worked. It can still set fire to things right beside it since the lightning can come from an angle... I think. But it does prevent the things directly below it from getting struck, which is its purpose since lightning will strike it and the block below it won't go up in flames.

The weird thing about Minecraft is that lightning doesnt spawn from the sky and works its way down to the ground. Instead, it picks an exposed block or mob and spawns lightning there, so lightning rods are more effective the more blocks they have around them. Elevation doesn't matter since lightning doesn't have "sky-to-ground" pathfinding.

How it actually work, lighting rod? Will it actually hit only the rod or the area around it? so if pekora put the rod on top of wool, will the wool also burn??

It hits the top side of the rod, but since it's still a lightning strike, it can still ignite fire on nearby surface. So if there is any other surface on the same level as the rod's top face, that surface can still catch fire. For easier to understand: have a completely flat ground, place the rod on it, the top face of the rod will be at 1 block higher than the ground, so no fire; dig down 1 block then place the rod inside the hole, the top face of the rod will be at the same level as the ground, so if lightning strikes, the ground around the hole where the rod is can catch fire. That, or I might be remembering it wrong since i only tested a few times with a channeling trident

@@halfawake573 While playing around with lightning rods I actually managed to catch wood on fire with it. So I think you do still have to be careful with how you place them. (I'll admit that it wasn't on accident though. I was trying to burn a pillager outpost. It took some effort. And i didn't know at the time you could just use a trident on the lightning rod so i just triggered a thunderstorm and waited.)
