For fighting winds I recommend a light anchor (read 5lbs or less mushroom anchor) attached to side or rear. Rear tie off is preferable so the nose points down river and you're facing the direction you're fishing. I know most traditional "kayak anchors" are the grappling hook style but for river fishing I don't want to hook a bunch of tree limbs and stuff on the bottom. I also recommend keeping a clamp style brush gripper type anchor. They're useful for just hooking up to a limb or branch and fishing out away from the bank. I have the YakAttack track mounted cleat and use that with paracord for my anchor tie off point. I have this same kayak and exclusively fish rivers here in MO. Fish finder is on my to do list now. Thanks for taking the time to make the videos man. Stay safe.

That’s great info man! Yeah I use a grappling style anchor in winds. Our rivers around here don’t have much to any current, so it hasn’t been an issue. I do tie off to trees or posts when I can though! It’s a great little kayak for sure. I recently upgraded to a native slayer max so I can pedal bigger lakes! Loving it so far too

I'm short at 5"6", but I know taller guys that fish it with no issues. I'd suggest going to the nearest Academy or kayak dealer to sit in one and see how it feels. The 12ft would give you more room and stability no doubt, if you have the funds and good way to transport it!

Depends on a few things like how far you need to paddle to the bridge, how busy the lake is with boat traffic. and how big/tall you are. It's a stable kayak for a great price, but just a little slow.

Thank you for watching! I’ll be honest I never looked much into anchor wizards to see how they install, but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen people with them installed directly on Pelicans. It’s a tough plastic so as long as you use the right hardware and marine goop, I’m sure it would be fine!

Definitely! I’ve seen people even do two trolling motors, one on each side (probably overkill). Sorry I'm seeing this late but congrats on the new yak! Obviously the basic paddle, anchor, and lifejacket are needed. Make sure to do some research on the right type and length of paddle because that makes a difference. Additional stuff would be a paddle leash, crate, and any rail mount accessory you would use! They have some cool rod holder ones or a cup holder.

Sorry for the late reply! I believe the weight limit on the catch 100 is 350lbs so it would be doable, but I’d suggest checking out the Catch 120 (12ft kayak) or the new Catch PWR 10. Sorry for the late reply! I’d say it’s a great kayak for $500, but it also depends on what kind of water you’re planning to fish. Some other good options to look into are Ascend Kayaks or I just saw Magellan released the Pro Angler Kayak which looks pretty promising. Sometimes you can find used kayaks for a great price too.

The Mount for the garmin, is the two links below for the transducer mount and the fish finder mount the only thing I need to mount it?
@FishATX
@FishATX Жыл бұрын
Yep it should be! As long as you have all original parts for the Garmin. I think the Garmin comes with the black plastic round piece that tilts and screws for attaching to the fish finder mount. The transducer mount slides and locks into the built in track on the kayak, and then the fish finder mount with the garmin attached just pops into the top. Nice and easy, and no holes required.
