Bahahahaha ha! First 10 seconds he's already complaining about weight. YOU knew how much it weighed prior to buying it and had time to return it if it was too heavy for your lady hands.
@RobertMoseley
@RobertMoseley 9 жыл бұрын
I have to be honest but you are complaining about things that you think MIGHT break, but haven't yet. You are also complaining about the lid closure and gasket, it needs the gasket to help seal it in which requires pressure to close it and seal it. That's how it works!!! As far as the weight, the walls are all 2' - 3" thick rotocasted thermo-plastic and sealed with high density foam insulation. That's why you can keep ice in it for up to 10 days. If you are not using it for extreme use then why do you have it? You are right, you can get an Igloo for $20 - $50 that weighs nothing, has no seal on the lid and will keep the ice for most of the day, maybe... and it has a snap in plug. Oh yeah, about that 3/4" plug, let's just say that you did lose that cap... you can go to any hardware store and buy a garden hose plug cap in plastic or brass that will fit that sucker and you will be fine. You can't do that with the other propitiatory plugs on crappy coolers. The gasket? Again, you can go to Home Depot and get a roll of that material for a few bucks. I agree, I enjoy free lifetime replacement of stuff too, but honestly, I would rather just fix something for $2 than having to go through weeks of waiting for a part. That warranty covers the real damage, for instance, if you rolled that ATV off a hill onto rocks, you are NOT going to damage that cooler and if you did they would replace it. It won't crack. The handles will not break off. If they do, that is the stuff they fix. If you are spending $400 on a cooler and the $2 cap has you worried you might want to re-evaluate your spending. Oh yeah, it is heavy. So are refrigerators. That's what it takes to make a virtually indestructible cooler that holds ice for over a week. If that's not what you need go get a lighter cooler than you can lift with your scrawny arms. Maybe you can find one in pink? Good luck!!! * PS, I own the 45Q Pelican Elite with wheels, in gray. Love it. I only use it on road trips in my truck when I am gone for about 3-10 days at a time. I can fill it up when I leave and still have ice in it when I get back. I also pre-chill the cooler as recommended using a frozen jug of water. I also use ice-replacements such as gel packs, and add ice as needed. It will keep cold while inside of a parked black pickup truck in the Texas sun. THAT is what makes them special. What makes the Pelican different than the Yeti is that you can get them in colors, they use real latches instead of rubber toggles, they have real handles instead of sticks on a rope and you can get them with WHEELS. When I stop at a hotel for the night, I just wheel this sucker up to the room and I have all my fridge with me. It's great.

Robert Moseley I agree... I have a 35QT. The gasket is not an issue and the drain plug will not break with any use... Its plastic and there is a stress discoloration, but that is normal. The cap is not pulled on or should ever need to be bent back and forth for I to break.... If one was to break at that point, the cap is still usable to keep the cooler sealed until one made it back home. In the end, you can always use a cap from a hardware store which is a great thing if every caught in a jam or needing a solution. One can put a hose on it and drain fish water to a far way location, lol. Anywho, I just cant find an issue out of mine... I only paid $125 for my 35QT and there is just no way to find fault in it. It is a life time cooler. Yours with the wheel is amazing. If I get another one... it will be a 20QT or a larger one with wheels.Good luck!
@RobertMoseley
@RobertMoseley 9 жыл бұрын
I was going to buy the 20QT, but it doesn't have a drain plug and I hate having to tip the thing with the lid cracked the drain it, that was the main reason I didn't get it. I was going to get the 35QT, but I figured it would be heavy to lug up to a hotel room when I travel, I didn't want the 45QT because I thought it was too big for me, but with the wheels it makes it easy to move around so I went for it.

Robert Moseley Hey I like the 45 qt with wheels like yours, I wish they had it in dark yellow but i'm gonna go for blaze orange. My question to you is when you're hauling the 45 qt. is the handle long enough so the back of your feet doesn't hit it? By the way Yeti is overpriced with not enough features like Pelican.

Robert Moseley I've watched a couple of this guys videos and it seems like they are all the same. He likes to whine and the reviews don't sway my decision one way or the other. His Igloo Sportsman is the same as this. Horrible! No technical data on either cooler and doesn't say how long either keeps ice. Just cries about how his pretty little cooler got a mark on it. If a cooler keeps ice for 4 days to a week and it doesn't fall apart in less than a year, then stop sniveling.

For the guy who says the Pelican cooler 35 qt is not all that! I have 2 of them and let me tell you they are far better than the Yeti. I accidentally broke my drain by fighting it with cut off valve and drain house so I called Pelican warranty dept and they sent me a new drain with no charge and the rep said you have 2 35 qt Coolers so he sent me 2 new drains no charge and after reviewing your video last night I called today to ask them about the gaskets and guess what they are sending me 2 new gaskets to have on hand. The two even asked how are my handles and latches. Pelican Warranty reps are amazing and helpful! So I would call the warranty dept I'd you have any issues! They stand by there products and I'm about to order 2 65 qt Coolers this week!

Fyi the drain plug is covered. Snapped off a friends 45qt wheeled. They sent a new one overnight. Not only did they send the 3/4 threaded portion they sent the whole drain kit gasket cap and all. I have a 80 quart wheeled and the lid does the same. It is the gasket in the rear at the fulcrum point that has to be squished to close and make the seal. My 150 doesn't do that because the lid is about the weight of your entire 65 qt. Yes it is heavy and it is obvious why. I also own a yeti 65 and 105. They are also very heavy. The bad part is the yeti has a melted spot on the lid from one of my brainiac friends. Yeti will not sell me a new lid. I have a friend of mine that was hauling his 45 qt pelican on a receiver and melted the side with the exhaust. He called and told them what happend and if pelican would help him out even though it was not a defect or failure. They replied pay $10.00 for freight and processing. They sent a whole new cooler. My friends and I have many pelican storage cases and have had fenominal customer support from them over the years. The only good thing I can say about yeti is they look good and perform, but what good is a product they won't stand behind...

This is the last thing I'm saying about the pelican subject. I have a 20 and a 35 and I did a ice test and it held ice for 10 days pretty excited about that. So to me I'm kinda like the pros out way the cons. But you're on about the 65qt being heavy well its a 60qt when you picked it up in the store unless you ordered it offline where still it tells you how much it weighs man you couldn't tell that the 60 was gonna be more then a one person deal?__. I went into a local Walmart myself picked up the 65 and said no deal. I'm 25 6-3 pretty built workout and box and I could tell you within 3 seconds of missing with it that the 65 isn't a cooler for just dicking around ain't it like a 80qt cooler? I'd say it's more for long hunts and fishing it's more sitting in a boat that you don't plan on taking it out of for a while. If you're not a extreme fisherman or hunter I just really can't imagine why you would need a super cooler that size ?___? For one day family functions where you need that much space cooler space you're best just to go cheap. I've had to deal with a yeti 45 tundra and when that things full it's heavy as hell and those cheap as rope handles make carrying it or loading it in something a pain in the ass. Usability is why I bought the 20qt pelican I wanted something I could use to tote a few beer's around in when I'm with the boys that would hold ice for more then 2hours loved it so much decided to get another for lake and small scale offshore boating and camping. It came down to the pelican 45 and 35 and the 35 won out because it's kinda the best of both worlds I may still get 45 in the future though. As far as the qualms you've listed the only one that gives me any kind of worry is the gasket but I talked to customer service a while back about the limited warranty items and they said if I ever had any problems with the gasket even outside the limited warranty they take care of it. I don't know if that means I'll have to purchase a gasket from them? Probably --___-- 10day ice retention though worth it. As for the lid when the cooler is not cold it doesn't pull the lid down most all pelicans are that way both mine are talked to customer service about it and they said that is normal and just like they said when I put ice in the coolers the lid draws down tight. And all roto mold coolers are heavy even the alustrous yeti the higher you go up in quart size. It looks like to me that the 60qt was your bad judgment I really don't feel you have to down the whole cooler over a few minor details that I'm sure if you call pelican they will help you to the best of there abilities they did me. I think you would have been more content with the 45 yourself there's a 45 with wheels now to I may look into that myself.

@gregparrott

I just spotted this video of yours after watching your review of Igloo. Here's my 2 bits: 1) I think Pelican's stated 50lb weight is its shipping weight. I weighed my Pelican 65 at 41lbs. That's not light, but it's better than 50lbs. 2) As dhauf22 points out, you SHOULD expect to push the lid down in order to compress the seal. 3) Unlike what you show, the ends of my seal do not fully meet at the back. I have about a half inch gap. While this will have very little effect on ice retention, the effort Pelican made on my seal looks amateur. 4) I did quite a lot of research and price shopping of coolers from Yeti, Pelican, Grizzly and to a lesser extent, EngeI and from my perspective, Pelican came out on top. 5) I wonder why none of the manufacturers have yet to use aerogel insulation, which is by far both the best and lightest insulation (NASA uses it) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerogel

@AmericoonNation
@AmericoonNation 9 жыл бұрын
Gregory Parrott It should I had a half inch gap in my 20qt and it wasn't getting a good seal because of it. I noticed the gap in the back and thought that strange so I popped the gasket out and stretched it till it was flush. And ain't had no more trouble with it holding ice because now it seals tight. I ain't done no real test like I did with the 35qt but after I adjusted the gasket I've gotten 5-7 days easy out of it where I was only getting like two when it had that gap. The gap makes a difference if you can't refit you need to call pelican to send you a new one.

I agree with several other comments - you are looking for problems that might happen. This might be a mind blowing revelation, but problems will happen. You essentially have no issues, except stating repeatedly - "It's Heavy". Yeah - its heavy. So the gaskets aren't covered. Show me a gasket on anything that is covered by a lifetime warranty. At the and, you recommend it and say its a great cooler. Yep. Could have said it upfront and save all a lot of trouble. By the way, it is a great cooler. One other reviewer elsewhere complained that it was "overbuilt". This is akin to complaining about your wife being too good looking and your car being way too fast.
