In this video I install runners on my Pelican Trek 60 sled. Had a friend of mine suggest installing them to protect the bottom of the sled. Decided to give it a go. The installation went very well.

That is a great way to protect your sled from wear and tear. Good to protect your investment. 👍

How is it overall? Have you noticed a difference from before using it to your first trip? Looking at getting some..

Overall its been really good. Its held up well. I noticed a bit of a difference. Bought the runner kit to protect the bottom of the sled and its done what its supposed to do so I'm happy about that. Thanks for watching. Tight lines!

Lol. I am looking forward to it 😁 Hope to get back on the lake again a couple more times with the boat. Maybe try hitting the river a couple times as well before the ice sets in. Thanks for stopping by!

Speaking of that! Have you ever covered things you may have said within the comfort of your parents living room when you where 20 and find years later its almost like this weird energy expects you to meet all those challenges and then some? Lol, glad I did!!!!! Anyway! Thank god for a change I got one of these from the store fully assembled! That never happened to much for me for some reason! And its not like that takes from your awesome video because when these wear out, it might be nice to review and get ready to install some of these to keep the sled lasting forever! Also nice that you said the screw holes had indicators

Lol I never thought of that. Glad to hear that you got one of these fully assembled. Wish I would've found one assembled lol. Thanks for watching!

I just bought this sled but can't seem to get the runner kit without paying 20 or so in shipping. Nice to see how too install them as I've never done it so will reference this video if I manage to get some

Hey there Lone Outdoorsman. That seems kinda high for shipping. I managed to get mine on Amazon with free shipping but I'm sure it was built into the price. The installation was not difficult. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video.

That's what I thought. Seems lately everything is sold out on there.

I just bought this same rig and am wondering about the screws loosening in the plastic over time… maybe a carriage bolt might be better
@X2OOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
I believe the screws will be fine. If you use carriage bolts with this particular kit you would have to counter sink holes so the head of the bolt doesn't stick out. These runners were designed for screws. My advice is definitely to use a heat gun to bend the curve. Makes for easier work and less stress on front screws. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

I'm starting a tracksled (snowdog) build. Do these sleds come in 16 inches wide or only 20 inches? When I get it done we should take it for a spin on the ice.
@X2OOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a cool build! Can't wait to see it. My Trek 60 sled is 24 inches wide. The next one up from mine is 32 inch. For sure we should go for a rip! Let me know when it's done.

Is there a benefit to adding these other than wear resistance?
@X2OOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
These runners make a big difference on the ice for wear resistance on the bottom of the sled. I bought the sled new and after a few uses on the ice I noticed it getting chewed up. I decided to put these on a recommendation from my buddy. If you're using the sled on snow I don't see a need for them but on the ice they help a lot. Thanks for watching.

Do the nuts stick out on the inside of the sled?
@X2OOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
The kit comes with screws. The screw head sits nice and flat below the ridges inside the sled. You don't have to worry about snagging anything on them. Thanks for watching.
@marcusstokes95563 жыл бұрын
what type and size screw are you using
@X2OOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Hey Marcus. I think its a #8 size screw. Definitely 1/2" or less. The runner is only 1/2" thick plus the thickness of the sled which is not much. The screws were included with the runner kit so I'm not entirely sure. I'm not a screw guru :) Wish I could tell you more.

Hey bro, maybe you should read that manual again. Your instructions are completely wrong.

How so Alex? I've had no issues. Not sure what manual you're talking about but the one I read pointed to doing it this way.
