Pellet Bow

Bows have been used not only for shooting arrows but also pellets and rocks. Pellet bows have been formidable small game weapons and used almost everywhere, known as "kemân-ı gerûhe" in Persian and adopted by Ottomans as "kemânkûre". Being undoubtedly the real predecessor of slingshot this weapon is worth to analyze and be compared with its "grandkid". In this video pellet bow and slingshot were compared with their mechanism of action, ballistics, enery efficiency and accuracy.

I have gone back to slingshots as it's a very similar movement to a bow and am experimenting with short bolts ( fish bolts) adding silicone fletchings to help them fly. If I could get a pouch string for my learner bows it would be another interesting experience. Thank you for your dedication and sharing the knowledge 🏹

In South America it was used as well, by the indigenous tribres. In the place i live we call it Bodoque

Yes! The string of this pellet bow was designed based on that of a Bodoque. Southeastasian ones usually have bamboo strings.

I tried building a pellet bow but the projectile keeps hitting the back of the bow.
